At first, when key is turned to start position, a rapid clicking would occur. Then sometimes nothing at all, then sometimes it was fine.
REMEDY: Replace starter. Car started better, but probblem still existed.
Then, today when key turned to start position, nothing at all. As if the
battery was dead, but all my interior lights, radio, dash indicator lights
work fine. REMEDY: Replace battery, check under hood fuses. Still
nothing. The only noise from under the hood is the ABS breaker.

First. I would look for a loose connector plug going to one of the fuseboxes, there could be corrosion in the connector even, Under the hood or under the steering wheel. 2nd. I would try to locate the ECM, could also be a bad connector there as well.
I had the same problem with my 1995 Cutlass Supreme. Finally it would not start at all and I noticed the security light on the dash would not go off after I turned the key. It wound up being the ignition switch. I replaced it and no problems. The only trouble is that your old ignition keys do not work with the new switch.
Go to good locksmith and make a copy of ignition key.Your keys must be badly worn and or resistor(antitheft)could be weak.Good locksmith can make you a new replacement at reasonable price. Also make sure you wipe ignition key if it gets wet.If it wont start wait 3 mins minimum before trying to restart.
Last resort would be changing ignition on column.
If the lights on the dash all come on but the engine wont turn over it could be a problem with the VAT security system. Your key has a little chip on it between the teeth and the handle. This is a common problem with GMs', often just replacing the key is necessary but sometimes the VAT module needs to be replaced.
hi there the things to check are do you have a spark at the plugs?
do you have compression ?
are the cam shafts turning?
is the cam belt intact?
this are all needed to make the engine run it will turn over great but not start with this things not working infact if the last 3 are not there it will sound diffrent when you are turning it over with the key.
Sounds like carbon build up on the contacts inside the electrical ignition switch which is not the key cylinder. Its located on the lower steering coluum if coluum shift or if you have a floor shift it will be inside the console
Check lights, etc, check battery grounding. If that turns up nothing, your husband just may be right! You also need to check power at small wire connection on starter with key turned to start position . There should be 12v at large connection and 12v with key turned at small one! If there is power at small lead, starter may be bad.
try taking a power wire from the battery positive and getting it on the starter terminal and seeing if the starter turns over if it does it could be a fusible link that runs between the starter terminal and the relay
