1990 Dodge Dakota 2wd ext. cab v6

My brakes are really spongy. I just replaced the front rotors, and pads, the reservior is at a good level, but while at stop lights, my pedal slowly depresses to the floor. While driving, they are tight, but when stopped, and especially when stopped on a downgrade, the brake will be fine at first, but then, you can feel your foot slowly creeping toward the floor. I haven't found any leaks, and like I said the reservior looks good. Maybe air?

Rear wheels lock up on my dodge dakota

What year Dakota? Drum Brakes?

Lock up when?

If you use the parking brake, then the cables
have to be replaced because of rust.

With proper brake maintenance once a year, there is no
reason to say they lock up while driving

I need to know what is wrong with my dodge ram 1500 . When I brake the truck squeals and its not my brake pads cause they look like new .

Did you install Dodge Replacement pads or aftermarket? With the size of the rotors and pads on your Ram it is not uncommon for aftermarket pads to have squeal. Did you install and use the anti-squeal material that should have come with the pads?

Front brakes, what tools do i need

To replace rotors and pads, wheel wrench, sockets, hammer, with 4x4, remove wheel, pry pads apart, remove caliper, smack off rotor, and reverse install. 2x4, remove wheel, caliper, hub dust cover, cotter pin, castle nut, and remove rotor and bearings, clean and repack your brgs and replace dust seal, install in new rotor and reverse install. GOOD LUCK, RDJRP

Repeated warping of front brake rotors. Have replace rotors 3 times with both Chrysler OEM and aftermarket. Replace calipers, ceramic pads, etc. Still warps rotors in less than 5000 miles.

do you do a lot of hills work?if so use the gears ,ifdown hill not the brakes if it is auto then slip it down i gear . make sure your rear brakes are adjusted regularly, but for the main part i would think it is the driver that is the problem, you may get an occasional faulty rotor but not three sets, over heating is the cause of your problem.dont missunderstand me chrysler brakes arent anything special but they arenot that bad , slow down

I changed distributor and wirers on 2000 dodge dakota 3.9 v6 2wd and crossed a wirer. How do i fix the problem.

Try going to your local library and find a manual for your 2000 dodge that would save you some money buying the manual unless having the manual for yourself is good.

ABS braking

have you check? the master cylinder. sometine when you get the rotors cut they dont come out right because they may be warped or to thin. if you did the job yourself you might have put the calipers in on the wrong side. this happens alot . if your rotors front and rear are fine then switch the calipers to the other side.
