How do i adjust valves on a 4.3 vortec tbi motor

The 4.3 liter vortex uses a hydraulic lifter. There is no valve adjustment. If you hear a lifter tick than there is either a bad lifter or something broken in the valve train. Something yo can try for a sticky lifter is add 1/2 a can of seafoam motor tune the oil. Start the engine and let it run until the noise goes away. Then change the oil. If the noise doesn't go away than you have bigger issues. I have yet for the seafoam to not fix a sticky lifter especial in the 4.3 liter which we see quite often.

I have a ticking noise coming from my engine i beleive its the valve lifters how nuch to fix??

Try a cup full of transmission fluid dextron 3 in the engines oil till you next oil change. Sometimes the hydraulic lifter get sticky inside. The dextron will help the rubber seal in the motor as well.

Hi i have a ticking noise in my vg30e pathfinder, i believe it may be a hydrolic lifter, what are the adjustment specifications

The lifters on your vehicle would not be adjustable, so depending on mileage, a lifter could need replacing. Listen to this sound to determine if it is at engine speed, or at camshaft speed, which is half as fast. If at engine speed, it could be any number of things. If at camshaft speed, it couild be a broken vavle spring, a sticky valve or a noisy lifter.

I have a 100k on my 1992 wrangler i have a little lifter noise

If you have an inline 6, 100K is nothing! Lifter noise can be due to low oil pressure. if pressure is good, it can be from cam wear, lifter being sticky inside, or a rocker pivot being a little worn. Most just get a bit sticky (internal hydraulic plunger inside a lifter or two). To fix that I generally change the oil to a good synthetic, add lucas additive or marvel oil and just give it some time to dissolve the gunk. It took time to get that way so don't expect the tapping to go away instantly...Most times it will begin to lessen in a day or two or up to a few weeks.

1993 mazda mx6 2.5 when should a valve adjustment be done little noise is that common 144,000 mles .

the valve lifters should be hydraulic and not adjustable on that engine, either you have a clogged oil feed to them, in which case wynns hydraulic lifter treatment will cure it after a few days, or the shims are worn and replacement means using a micrometer or vernier gauge to measure each shim against the specified clearance and then fitting individual bucket shims to each valve to correct the wear, but try wynn's first, its cheap and works well for sticky lifters.

If the 2.5 has VVT (variable valve timing) it may be this unit thats making the noise, not the valves...

Valve ticking

There is no valve adjustment on a 2.0 engine they are equipped with hydraulic lifters. Try changing the oil and using marvel mystery oil it will usually clean up sticky lifters. If that doesnt clear it up in a few hundred miles you will have to replace the defective lifter
