SOURCE: Can i swap the Brake master cylinder over without "reprogramming"

honestly sound more like the abs unit, it is the alloy box that the brake lines go into from your master cylinder, this will cause directional braking and awkward braking and DANGEROUS braking, it is more than likely the abs junction box and no the computer will not need program, just disconnect battery for 15 mins while doing the work. hope this has been helpfull

You may have a bubble in the ABS. You can try bleeding there by loosening the lines one at a time, like bleeders. I have read that you might need a special rig to bleed some ABS systems. :-(

SOURCE: 1999 toyota Tocoma 2 wheel

Hi. Usually if the abs activates under normal braking, its usually one of the wheel sensors is malfunctioning .
Also i have seen the segmented ring which rotates with the wheel, come loose on its shaft (rust gets to them and the ring cracks so is then loose on its shaft) Or the segmented ring (toothed ring) has got dirt or rust between some teeth therefore giving wrong signal to the ABS system
Ihope tis will be of some help to you

SOURCE: I have a 07 Rav4.

The pulsation is normal and caused by the antilock brake system, any time the brakes are applied rapidly the abs will kick in and you will feel pulsations in the pedal.

What causes brakes judder

Unplug the harness plug to the ABS module under the hood and see if shuddering stops. You will still have an ABS light on the dash but it should not effect normal braking. If shuddering stops the ABS module is bad, also check for any kinked brake lines resulting from accident. Be careful when working with brakes, no excessive speed and be ready to apply hand brake.

Hi Steve,
The clutch and brake problems are separate. The clutch problem would seem to be a worn clutch plate and or pressure plate. These will need replacement which means the removal of the gearbox.
The brake shudder could be caused by broken or loose brake parts, but is more likely to be caused by worn brake discs, which will require either skimming or replacement.

My vw bora has a severe front brake judder and abs activates for no reason at slow speed, brake pads and discs are only 4 months old

Hi,

Your discs when fitted had a small runout problem, this will after 2 to 5000 miles develope into DTV Disc thickness variation. To cure this inexpensively go to www.discskimmers.com or www.skimmydiscs.co.uk
and get your discs machined on the vehicle which will eliminate your runout problem solving the juddering without replacing the discs etc.

Suzuki Grand Vitara 1999:

Going by your description I think it could be something different, I would have the brake master cylinder checked, if you are suffering brake failure and shuddering it sounds like your callipers arent getting equal pressure when you apply the brakes. Or a freat lack of pressure to suffer brake failure. I hope this helps.

Did you get the rotors machined to specs or just change the pads.If not machined suggest you get them checked to see wether they should have been. This affects ABS equipped vehicles more severely
