There is a mechanical fuel shutoff switch that stops fuel flow in case of an accident. Your owners manual will tell you the location. If you have no power from the battery and it wasn't damaged in the wreck, then the battery fuse in the relay box under the hood may have blown. It takes a huge short to blow the fuse so inspect both battery cables and the wire that goes to the alternator for cuts, pinches or loose connections.
Most cars of that year and newer have a bump switch in the trunk that cuts off fuel so the car want burn up in the event of a wreck. Check in the truck, locate the switch and push to reset
car move, in park and brakes set.? my guess, is it moves, brakes not set, and is bad. the linkage to the tranny are bad. (adjust it , inspect it visuall) the tranny parking pawl is sheared in half. (using park while moving wrecks this part , sheared or bent) park = transmission selector is in the park position,
THEY ARE USUALLY LOCATED IN THE TRUNK, SOMETIMES BEHIND THE SIDE PANEL.(not sure what side on your car, but check both sides, they are usually on the passenger side, but not positive on your saturn) IT WILL HAVE A RED (usually red) RESET SWITCH, SOMTIMES THEY DO GO BAD, BUT IF THE CAR HAS BEEN IN A WRECK, OR EVEN SLIGHTLY "BUMPED" IT CAN TRIGGER THE FUEL TO STOP, AS IT IS A SAFETY FEATURE FOR WRECKS TO SHUT OFF THE FUEL.
some chey aka caddy cars and trucks have airbag sensors in the doors any time you see wires sheathed in yellow they are for air bags or sensers. be disconecting them it will trip the light in the dash. you can take to the dealer to be reset at 100 bucks roughly or look on ebay or google for companies the reset the control module. granted you have to take the module out of the car and ship it to them. but that is around 50 bucks. i have done both ways.
You won't hear the fuel pump come on with the key switch because they are engineered to NOT pump unless the engine is running so that you don't set yourself and the world on fire if you get in a bad wreck. Some units fire with distributor pulses and ALL will have have a wreck reset device that you can not find so far.
Perhaps that is what was wrong with the first pump? The wreck reset device is inertia triggered to forever kill the fuel pump until manually reset or replaced, you MUST find it where ever it is. It might have been damaged electrically by the first pump? You possibly have a computer failsafe in operation preventing you from starting your engine until the RESET device is reset properly?
