There is nothing they could add to the gas that would destroy the engine. It would just stop running until you flusher the contaminated fuel from the system and replaced the fuel filter.

My 1985 Buick Century won't start it act like it wants to turn over but it's not

Try this. Open the air intake hose. thats the 4 inch thick hose on the top to your motor going from the air filter box. shoot starting fluid into it while someone cranks it. if it starts look at the fuses but most likely be clogged fuel filter, clogged air filter, bad fuel pump. these are the most common issues when it trys to start but won`t.

How do you know when to change fuel filter

Running out of gas can destroy the catalytic converter.. Disconnect the converter and see if it will run different, if it does replace the converter. You should change the fuel filter at least once a year.

do not use starting fluid. pull the line off from the fuel filter (line comming from the tank). put the line in a bucket and have someone turn the key a few times. if there is good flow replace the fuel filter, if not replace the fuel pump

I want to change the oil filter and fuel filter in my jaguar s type, 2005. Is it impossible?

No, but it may be more of a headache than you want. Fuel filter may be in the fuel tank. Find out first-you may want to pay someone to do that for you.

2005 kia optima stalling and not wanting to go over 20mph

The mechanic should check the fuel pump. And the fuel pump throttle .If a certain gasoline or diesel engine stall , It means that the fuel pump has a problem. may be fuel cant go pass to go to the engine that's why it stall for there is no fuel for compression. the piston will compress fuel so that the car will drive. The throttle should be check to find out if it is stock or worn out . if stock or worn out repair or replace. If the car wont turn over it means that there is a problem in car electricity. You should check the ignition switch ,the ignition coil ,the alternator , the starter motor solenoid , the wires ,the fuses, and the battery. You have to check this for the reason that the problem could be in this said spare parts .If there are worn out or destroyed replace them or repair . The loose wires should be reconnected if there is a loose wires ,if worn out replace them as well as the fuse.if there are worn out or destroyed fuse ,replace them.
