How to fix 08 Pontiac G5 door chime

When my keys are fully out of the ignition my door chime goes off when the driver door is open. I've had this car for 10 months and this has never happened before. The chime is extremely fast as well.

SOURCE: The door chime is chiming even with the doors

Sounds like the chimer is bad. The relay is weak or broken. Mine would chime all the time especially after making a turn. Replaced it and now its not a problem.

The vehicle thinks the keys are in the ignition all the time. Door chime won't go off and driver side door will not lock. How do I fix this issue?

If the problem is the sensor in the lock cylinder, you may have to replace the lock. The new lock would need to be re-keyed to fit your key.

My door chime does not ding when the key is in the ignition and the door is open

Do the interior lights come on when door is open? If not, you need to check driver's door jamb switch. The driver's door control module could also be the problem. If the interior light do come on, then I would suspect the ignition switch.
You haven't changed out the radio recently? All chimes go thru the radio.

Replaced the battery in my keyless entry fob and now it does not work. What do I do?

HAS TO BE REPROGRAMED
Perform the following steps:

Sit in the vehicle driver's seat. (actually it's much ezr from the front pass seat)
Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Close all of the vehicle's doors.
Remove the MALL PGM fuse from the fuse panel. Refer to Electronic Diagnosis in Body and Chassis.
Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the ACC position.
Turn the ignition lock cylinder OFF, then back to ACC within 1 second.
Open and then close any vehicle door. You will hear a chime when the remote control door lock receiver enters the programming/diagnostic mode. If you do not hear a chime, start again at step 1.

Important
After 7 seconds, you may hear a chime confirming successful synchronization. After approximately 14 seconds, you will hear a chime confirming successful programming.

It is normal operation for the odometer to light up with the driver's door being opened. It is not normal for the chime to go off. The "Key-In Switch" in your steering column is malfunctioning. The body control computer "Thinks" the key is in the ignition when it is not. It usually requires a new key tumbler assembly to fix this.
