1998 1500 4 wheel drive i have full tank of gas the little pump comes on in dash and gas hand drops to empty ?.

check your grounds and chassis ground straps sounds like a ground strap problem if fuel level drops out which is a ground resistance type unit and also no lights or problem with them

I replaced the gas tank on a 1988 ramcharger now the gas gage dose not work it was working before

You can ground the wire going to the gauge at the tank to see if the circuit is good. Grounding the wire should make the gauge move. Then check resistance on that wire going into the tank. It could be a broken circuit inside the tank.

The gas gauge for the front tank on my 1992 F150 is stuck past full

You probably have a ground wire not making contact to ground on the front tank sending unit. OR the sending unit itself inside the tank is faulty. Either way, when a gas guage goes to full all the time (empty or full), this indicates that NO ground is available for the sending unit.

Where is the gas tank ground wire for 1995 ford explorer

Not exactly sure when you say "in gas tank". There are 2 seperate grounds for the fuel pump/sending unit inside the fuel tank. The ground for the fuel pump is located under the left hand (drivers) side of the instrument panel behind the kick panel. The ground for the sending unit is located on the left hand (drivers) side of the engine compartment near the radiator. Sorry I don't have any pictures and I hope this helps....

My fuel gage will not read how much gas I have. The needle is **** under the resting point.how can it be reset?

check fuses if ok there is a problem with the sending unit in tank. in some cases the tank has no ground , givin ground to the fuel tank from either frame or boddy may help.

Gas gauge and tach do not read proper readings! What will cause this? The gas guage will peg past full when there is only quarter tank and tach reads 4500 RPM at idle

The gas tank sounds like a bad ground usually located under the car at the gas tank. I do not know but maybe they both tach and fuel gague get their ground from the same place.

How do I replace the Fuel Pump?

The fuel pump is located in your fuel tank...you have to drop your fuel tank to replace it...before you do so you will have to sifion [sp] most of the gas out as gas is heavy...when you get out all you can leave the gas cap off and remove the bolts holding the filler neck in place...Then jack up vehicle and place on jack stands....Remove battery ground cable,go under and remove sheild covering fuel tank, while there remove the ground strap attached to the filler neck...Once the cover is off this will expose the 2 tank holding straps.....at this point you will need a jack or holding and lowering devise to support the gas tank..... make sure it is supported well before you loosen the strap bolts!!!! disconnect the EVap hose from canister it runs to tank then remove the strap bolts ...move them aside and lower the tank enough to expose the top where the fuel lines are disconnect them and the electrical connector, ground ...then lower gas tank slowly checking nothing is still hooked to it ...After the tank is down remove it from under vehicle and use a BRASS punch or piece of wood not a regular metal punch to remove the pump retaining ring ...once ring is removed CAREFULLY remove the pump from the tank.....replace pump and new strainer... Then Carefully put the pump back in the tank...if needed replace the ring seal before you place the pump back in...tighten up the retaining ring ....take back to car and put on supporting devise and lift just high enough to reattach all your connectors...then jack up the rest off the way attach holdings straps ,cover, ground ******** filler neck, filler neck bolts, battery cable install gas cap and start hopfully

Fuel gauge worked a week ago now nothing not the fuses.

the fuel level float in the gas tank needs a good ground. make sure that one of the wires is well grounded. quick test .....take the wire from the fuel tank sender and touch to ground momentarily while someone watches the gas guage. if it moves then look for bad ground.

I got into an accident with my saturn and may have hit the gas tank and knocked the sensor around. now when i start my saturn the gas gauge will not show me how much gas i have in there???

generally when the gas guage quits it means a bad ground at the tank its possible the ground got ripped out depending exactly how bad and where it was hit clean up where the ground attaches(nice and shiny) and reconnect hope this helps

87 f150 dual tanks fuel gauge doesn't work how can I troubleshoot this with a multimeter; what voltages/ohms values are normal

I have a1987 F-150. The gas gauge for the rear tank always indicate that the tank is full when I know it is not. I try to put gas in but the tank won't let any gas in. Is there some type of sensors inside the tank that won't allow the tank to be filled or is this a guage problem?
