break pedal is sitting next to the floor. I try to step on it few time before stopping and it doesn't stop. getting on drive to go some where step on pedal some time is like very loose and it go almost to the floor and I feel a little power from break only when next to the floor almost, and it will not stop. I have to keep pumping and sometime works and but most of the time it doesn't work.

Pedal feel like nothing, no power. when step on pedal it just shoot down almost right before the floor then u feel a little bit of power and then it hit the floor. or when stepping on it it just shoot down to the floor and it wont stop.

Possibly, check for any vacuum lines that may have fallen off. I would also check the linkage at your brake pedal to make sure you ahven't broken anything.

What did the pedal feel like. I'm going to guess you lost the vacuum assist on your master cylinder. More info please.

It depends on certaint factors. Is the peddle real spongy or very stiff. Do you have to pump the brakes to achieve brakeing? Check the vaccum lines going from the engine (or vacuum manifold) to the master cylinder. Make sure they are there and aren't cracked or anything.

Thank you so much Chris, Problem is solved. After changing the master cylinder the brake was very sponge i mean it was undriverable....after everything we bleeded it pretty good on all four tires. Well it was so sponge and no power on brake @ all. So we change the hydro boost and it did the job. My h2 is running like a champ:-) thanks for your comment Chris.

What you describe could be warped brake rotors or bad wheel bearings. Doesn't sound like the power steering pump.

  • Most commonly a stuck brake bad will cause the hydraulic fluid to boil and expend and then the brake pedal won't hardly move.
  • But all considering you need to replace the brake booster.
  • This is not a DIY "project. I will link you to where one is though so you can see what it looks like. http://www.partstrain.com/ShopByDepartment/Brake_Booster/HUMMER/H2/2005
  • Traditionally a bad master cylinder will give a spongy feeling to the brake pedal.

Washed the vehicle Fri. It sat in the garage over the weekend. Temp outside is in the high 20. When I baked out this morning my brake pedal was so hard to push and I had no power steering. 2003 h2 hummer

Did you wash the engine too? any way the only reason the brake/power steering goes hard is due to either brake booster not working or P steering belt coming off OR the vehicle shuts off momenterly. Check to see if the brake fluid is at level.

Ranjit,

I have the same problem with my 2008 Hummer H3. I had the front and rear rotors resurfaced. I am now thinking of getting the rotors replaced with bigger more durable rotors. Solution about the sticking brake caliper sounds about right if you hear a grinding noise as you drive without even touching the brake pedal.

A bad or sticking brake caliper is the likely cause, and the dealer knows this. They are slow-rolling you until your warranty expires. Then I bet they find it right away! Have a reputable brake shop inspect it to confirm.

I have hardly any brakes and no power steering. Any ideas?

THE POWER STEERING PUMP ON MOST OF THE LIGHT TRUCKS ANY MORE ALSO RUN THE POWER BRAKES, CHECK TO SEE IF YOU HAVE POWER STEERING LINES GOING TO AND COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE MASTER CYLINDER AREA. THATS THE HYDROBOOST ACTUATOR. REPLACE THE P/S PUMP AND FLUSH ALL THE LINES
