Question about Cars & Trucks
I have a renault megane scenic 2003 1.4 and the fan inside the car will not go off, as soon as I start the engine it comes on full power even when it is in the off position (digital display model) when I press the Auto button I can change the temp and direction of the air but I can not lower the power of the air, then when I press the off button it stays on and reverts to blowing full power at the windscreen. Any ideas?

the vehicle is old enough that the fan blower motor sounds like it is in need of replacing. when you hit the dash it causes the brushes in the motor to contact enough to start the electrical connection, it may stop when it gets hot, or is turned off. the ticking sound is more than likely the bearings wore in the motor enough to cause the cage fan to touch the housing enough to cause the sound.

SOURCE: Megane Scenic Dash Lights
Possible accesory power relay staying on due to an internal fault. It is above the fuses in the glovebox. Try sitting in the car, locking it then giving the relay a tap

this exact problem on a megane coupe is caused by a small air pipe that connects to a 2 inch wide black box that is located under the bonnet near the windscreen on the passangers side. the zigzag light indicates an electrical fault (in this case lack of compression and will affect your revs) if you find this pipe and it has snapped off. the reason for this may be that your engien is lose and moves. grab the engien with 2 hands and see if you can wobble it with allot of play. if so your engien mountings need replaceing. you may also experiance juddering in low gears
