How much money is a 1986 westfalia VW camper van with refrigerator and stove bed worth

For a vehicle that is 28 years old, the red book value would be close to junk value. However if you advertise it, it will be worth what some one is willing to pay for it. . Place the add in publications that cater for the traveller / back packer age group for best results.

How to fit a westfalia specific towbar wiring kit to a bmw e 60?

Send an email to me at and I will send you 2 installation PDF's for a 7 pin and 13 pin Jaeger cable. Please be aware that you do need a car specific cable set for a BMW E-60. This cable set includes CAN-bus modules. You cannot simply make taps on existing wiring as this will impact the BMW's fault diagnosis system.

How many times should it take to start westfalia in the cold

Try your question again with model year and symptoms. Based on you question as written the simple answer is "once."
Different model years have different systems and starting procedures but ultimately a properly functioning vehicle (regardless of age) should start right up.

Can't find out how much my 1986 VW camper van is worth ?Went everywhere .all sites just want to sell.I just want to know the price of what mine is worth.

It depends on what options your camper has, i.e. pop-up top, refrigerator, sink and general overall condition and mileage. I've seen alot around $2000.00 to $10,000 for a Westfalia with a pop-up top, and 40,000 miles.

Shift linkage problems with 1982 VW Westfalia - The gear shift inside the van suddenly when slack and 1st, 2nd and Reverse can no longer be selected.

there is a good chance its just the linkage, which i believe the westfalias had, but, most of the older vw's used plastic shift linkage, if you look just behind the tranny, there should be some bars with ball sockets on the ends, one of the short plastic ones has probably snapped one side of its socket if not the whole thing. its like a 5 dollar part at the dealership, if it is infact the same design. it happened on my friends 83 rabbit, so i would assume they still had the design, hope that helps!

Diesel wont start

1. Make sure that the battery is fully charged.

2. Check the fuse for fuse # 30. This is the fuse for the:
Fuel Heater (Diesel only),
Wastegate Solenoid (Diesel only)
Injector Driver Module Relay Coil (Diesel only)

3. It is not uncommon for the fuel bowl heater (little wire in the bottom of the fuel bowl) to go bad. If the fuse is burnt, you can pull the small plug on the back of the fuel bowl to get around a bad fuel bowl heater.
As far as fuel leaking, a common problem is the water separator valve behind the fuel bowl. There are o-rings in there that tend to go, especially now that we're burning the ulsd. Do a search on water separator, and you'll find volumes of information and how-to's to swap out the o-rings.There's other reasons that you could have a fuel leak, but that is where I would start first. And welcome to The Diesel Stop.

Hope these helps and have a great day!
