SOURCE: 2005 parking brake stuck

The parking brake cable should be replaced but in the short term try getting under the truck and grabbing the cable casing and move them around to get the seized cable inside the cable casing to release keep working the cable until it releases if this doesn't work replace both cables.

I have a Lexus RX300 1999 model and have this recent problem. engine running normally but gear gets stuck in Parking mode and won't shift. had to depress the emergency button on the gear shift and

Hi there,

Some automatic vehicles rely on the brake switch (mounted on brake pedal) to be activated by depressing brake pedal. This signal then operates a relay and switch, to release the gear lever.

Firstly, I would check the brake pedal switch (are your brake lights working?).

If brake switch is confirmed OK, then inspect the relay (and related circuit components) of the gear release switch.

96 Lexus ES300 When you depress the brake pedal, the car "slides" to a stop. It feels like the ABS is kicking in when there is no need. It happens always when turning right into a parking space, but...

Hi there

Few things: When you say it 'slides' to a stop. Do you mean the pedal sinks to the floor with the same pressure as you first applied? If so, the master cylinder needs an overhaul or a replacement, as the seal around the plunger/piston has deteriorated.

If that is not the case, and you get a pulsating feel through the brake pedal, this is the ABS working. If it is not an emergency stop, then the rear brake pads are low, which causes the ABS to trigger too early (and by the sounds of it it is the left rear brake pad).

Seems odd how Toyota mechanics could not work that one out, they own Lexus. Alas, if it's not on their fool-proof computer screen then they pass the buck.

Good luck and please vote for me if this helps you.

How do I repair the parking brake on a 1998 es300

When I put springs back in I use a pair of needle nose pliers, the longer the better. hook the short side in first then grab the other side with the pliers and pull or push and twist into place. good luck

AC Belt squeaks on my 2002 Lexus es300

When belts squeak it's either from dryness wear or tension / tightness / looseness affecting alignment.

Check for tightness and you can spray with belt dressing and try some WD40 on the compressor pulley.

If none of that doesn't stop it it very well could be the clutch or pulley is stiff from non use and could need replacing soon.

Brake light

I had this same problem on my ES300. The brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoir was BARELY under the full line and this was causing the brake light to illuminate believe it or not. Some ES300's are just more sensitive than others. I went ahead and removed the inner plastic screen and sucked out as much of the fluid as I could using a turkey baster and then refilled with fresh fluid all the way to the fill line and the light never cam back on.Remember, even if it's just a millimeter below on these certain sensitive models it can set it off. Other people might have the identical car and not have the issue. It just depends. Replacing the fluid as I did may not be necessary and a simple fill might do but it would be a good idea to go ahead and fill the reservoir with fresh fluid.
