there is a valve on the back of the mechanical fuel pump under the bonnet
when the lift pump in the tank fails some tiny bits of the pump are sucked down the fuel line and clog up a tiny filter on the end of the valve that may be causing the light to come on amd possibly the engine to stall
i have found that the bosch kts670 will read just about anything you plug it in to

A common problem for this that typically goes without fault codes is a dirty or damaged IAC valve. You can easily identify this part and it's location by visiting a parts website, search your part that you need and can usually see a picture of it.
Then you can remove the part on your van, inspect it and if it's just gummed up with carbon, clean it with a toothbrush and alcohol or throttle body cleaner and reinstall.
Another cause for your problem is the fuel pump but the operating nature of your vehicle will give you a fair warning that it is going bad, and the dirty IAC valve is much more common.

SOURCE: citroen c3 error code a17
The engine and transmission in this cars drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPEDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM
