Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Mitsubishi tractor I have a 2006 farmtrac with a 30 hp Mitsubishi diesel. The problem started with bad fuel with water and algae. The fuel system has been gone over with tank drained, fuel filter changed, and fuel treated for algae. The injectors have been rebuilt, oil changed, and the motor has been put on a dyno. The tractor will run for about 1 hour and then looses power and shuts down . The tractor then needs to have the injectors bled to restart. All fuel lines have been replaced. I am searching for ideas as to what to try next.

Need to find the air leak, go back through and make sure everything is tight, check for damaged mating surfaces as well. Check the fuel filter and make sure they didn't double gasket it, by accidentally leaving the old filter gasket in place.

SOURCE: 2003 GMC Duramax Diesel won't start

I see that you had the injectors replaced 20,000 miles ago. I would still check the oil to make sure it is not overfull. The new injectors could be bad. If the oil level is not overfull then get a paper towel and touch the dip stick tip on the paper towel while oil is on the dip stick. If it's only oil it will not spread. If it has diesel in the oil the oil with spread. If this test doesn't show the injectors to be bad then you have three other possibilities. The FICM (fuel injection control module), the fuel pressure regulator, or the injection pump. It's hard to pinpoint what the problem is without running more tests and the only way to run those tests is with the computer the dealership has. Just so you know your injectors are still under warranty until 100,000 miles. Most likely you will have to take it to the dealership to get you truck fixed. I hope this helps you some.

SOURCE: 99 ram diesel wont start

Did you check to see if there is power to the glow plugs if not then that may be the problem and if there is power when you cycle the key not to start but for the plugs to warm up you may have a bad glow plugs.

No, the injection pump is the fuel mover. There should be a means to manualy prime the system. Look for a hand pump with a knob . Unscrew the nob and pump it up until iy pressurizes. The lock the pump dow and hit the key. Good Luck

Any one know 4by4 Mitsubishi triton no codes cranks need help urgent

the tachometer ( rev counter) get its impulses from the ignition system or in the case of a diesel from the crankshaft position sensor
if it runs with introduced fuel ( dangerous for a diesel) but then dies, that indicates insufficient fuel pressure to the injectors
could be a diesel pressure pump ( test to 25,000 psi) not producing sufficient pressure to work injectors
problem fuel supply to pump, tank venting, filters , air in system etc

In my misubishi sport hand book it mentions that you can ad up to 30% petrol to my diesel to prevent the fuel from freezing is this correct

30% sounds like an awful lot but yes, that does work.
I would suggest a diesel fuel additive instead. gasoline ignites
really fast in a diesel ,too much will cause damage.

My mitsubishi 4D56 wouldn't start after I overhaul it.Timing marks are all correct, diesel nozzle are new and fuel pump was serviced(app 6 months ago)

did you purge the air from the fuel system, or try to start it with ether? you may want to check the timing again if no fuel is being supplied to the engine.

My chev 2500 deasal keeps stalling

how recently have you changed the fuel filters?have other people used the truck?have you tried a commercial diesel fuel additive(power service) to help eliminate the algae that can grow if unchecked, with a diesel it usually amounts to a fuel or air issue so start by checking these areas, don't forget the air filter needs changed at regular intervals and fuel filters are the last line of defense on a diesel vehicles and water and algae are the enemy.
hope this helps.
