You can only move the shift into reverse or neutral. It sat outside all winter went to move it back to the garage and drove it around just fine with the only exception of not being able to put the shift clear up to park. (On the display it said park). Now it will only go into reverse or neutral.

What engine? Rear wheel drive ?Sounds like shift linkage or cable out of adjustment slightly. Have a look at where cable or rod attaches to transmission for adjustment. If not sure of what your looking for get back to me with info.
Will the car roll? Put in neutral and try moving it? If not, your brakes might be the issue. Was the emergency brake on while stored? If it was, it is probably is locked in place. Your brake light wouldn't be on if this is what the problem is. Let me know how u make out.
Sounds like the car is just slipping out of gear. Keep your hand on the shifter when you back up next time. See if you can feel the shifter move when the car comes out of gear. If the shifter moves up when it happens keep pressure on the shifter holding it back like you dont want it to move forward. And of course if the shifter moves back when it comes out of gear, put forward pressure on the shifter so it doesnt slip out. This might work for now but but i know i wouldnt want to spen 700 for that ****. Let me know how it goes.
