The problem is a 1/8 diameter hose that runs from the front of the engine over the top and connects at the rear of engine on the drivers side. It is a vacuum hose #GM15967970 It cost about $6.22 at your GM dealer. Hope this helps Bill. My E-Mail is Uflyups@aol.com

No the motor is not bad or going bad, the heater blower motor resister is bad, thats regulates the blower speeds, its located under dash by heater motor 2 screws hold in heater box with a electrical plug to it.

Low and medium speed fan for ac does not come on, while high speed fan works. 2000 1500 dodge van, had new condensor unit under dash replaced recently.

Blower motor resistor needs replacing. Follow wires from blower motor to connector, which should be the resistor. Usually in duct work, held in by 2 small screws.

My 2003 ford focus a/c will only come on when blower fan is on low speed?

Most likely low on refridgerant. ports are difficult to access .In front of passenger front wheel the accumulator is located. low pressure port is on top of it. Try and add a pound of 134a and see if it cools more efficiently. evaporators are common source of leak on these fine machines.

Heater/acblower fan doesn't work on high. Other fan speeds work ok. what is the problem? It's a 2003 chevy astro van

Hi, check fuse 12 first. If it is good, you will need to replace the blower resistor. The high speed relay is built into the resistor. The resistor is next to the blower motor and looks like the picture below. There is a connector in the resistor and the 2-wire connector coming out of the resistor attaches to the blower. The blower is usually under the dash above the passenger's feet. You may have to remove a kick panel to see the motor and resistor. Please let us know if you have any questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

The air conditioning does not blow through front vents but through windshield vents, what is the problem?

This is a common problem on all Astro/Safari vans. The problem is a leak in the vaccum lines that control the vaccum switch responsible for changing air direction from the defrosters, dash vents, floor vents..etc.
Many of the problems that plaque the Astro/Sarfari vans and many other "Mini-Vans" is the build up of excess heat in the engine compartment. It\'s a tight place to put a V6-4.3 Vortec engine and the heat generated bounces back and cooks everything on the engine (coils, modules, sensors, wiring, and of course plastic vaccum hoses). No need to mess with your switches or anything behind the dash -- replace those thin plastic vaccum hoses to operate the vaccum switch (located just below the A/C canisters, to the right of the heater/ac blower housing) and your dash switches will magically send heated or cooled air where you want it.

1998 Astro Van Heater AC Blower only works on medium & Low

Yes, in high it bypasses the resistor and uses a high blower relay. But I think on 1998 Astro the High relay and the resistor are built together. It should be mounted in the blower box real close to the blower motor.

97 astro van ac problem

Hi,
Yes that helps a lot.
The front main radiator fan can come on and off of it's own as it is operated by a thermostat switch independent of the ignition.

You most likely have a short on the switch that controls the speed of this fan. The unit holding the switch will need to be taken off to check. This is not a real easy task, but achievable if you take your time finding all the clips etc.

Ac controls quit working blower fan is running on high all thetime. compressor is not working.

fan elays are under hood in black box by battery. 3 of them. 2 for high speed, 1 for low speed. Default is high speed when there is a probem.

Suspect maybe they shorted something out when fixing dent. Did they do any welding on the van? Connecting the cables to the body can sometimes send voltage where it's not wanted.

REAR AC DOES NOT WORK, 4 SPEED BLOWER ONLY WORKS ON HIGH

While i am not sure of the location there is a resister or a relay in the circuit that allows the fan to run on lower speeds. This is bypassed on high (full speed 12 volts) and is not used. i would try to find its location. The possible locations are fuse panel under hood or dash and near the blowers themselves.
