Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Checked the air filter on my girlfriends 2004 chrysler sebring ( it was fine) now engine revs right up to 3500 rpm. Vacuum lines seem fine and no apparent problems with the linkage, can't figure this one out

If the check engine light is on, you can scan the computer for trouble codes to find out what to look for.
It just about has to be a vac leak or the throttle cable.

SOURCE: replace air filter 2002 Chrysler Sebring convertible

you need to loosen the clamp on the throttle body and unplug the map sensor then there are two clips on the other end pull that out and you should be able to pull the filter out you don't need to take the box off.

SOURCE: Where is the fuel filter located on a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Sedan

Some of the Sebrings have two filters(one is called a sock). The sock(which all sebrings have) is located in the fuel tank itself on the pump module. If this model is the JXI then the external filter is located on the belly of the car between the tank and drivers rear seat. I hope I could help!!!

Fuel probelms

Try hitting the brake off and on to see if the rpm changes when you do that with the car in park. If it does, you may have a ruptured brake booster. A fluctuating rpm while your car is in park with the brake on indicates a vacuum loss. Other things may cause a vacuum leak including the air conditioner controls inside the vehicle. Other things that cause this may be cruise control or your Air Conditioners high idle solenoid.

Oil lamp lights at 750rpms

750 rpm?

your revs are too low.

The engine speed drives the oil pump via the timing belt.

too low revs = poor pump speed = low pressure.

I'll bet when you rev the idle speed faster, the warning goes off?
