Question about Hyundai Accent

1 Answer

Starting problem My hyundai 2000 takes two and sometimes three cranks to start. Once it starts, if I put it off and then immediately start, it starts in first crank. If I switch Off the engine for 2 or 3 mins it takes 2 cranks for the engine to start. What could be the problem?

Sounds like the check valve in the fuel pump has failed.
You would need to have the fuel pressure checked before and after cranking the engine to verify. The check valve keeps the fuel pressure from draining back into the tank when the engine is off.

SOURCE: 235k miles. cut off one time going down road,

I have seen crank sensors go and leave no codes, but, likely the fuel pump is going away...they get hot and seize, then cool down and work again. I would not replace either without proper testing only because parts are expensive and there are other heat sensitive components in there. (coil etc) Be aware that it will check out good if it is running right while tests are being done.

SOURCE: Hard starting when cold ( engine cranks normally )

see if your engine has a ECT sensor (temp sensor that delivers information to your ECM) they are installed on the intake side of the cylinder head, it usually has 2 cables, have it checked replace if necesary

2006 hyundai sonata takes awhile to start

Could be a fuel problem. I would have someone check fuel pressure before and after cranking the engine. You may be loosing some fuel pressure back into the tank when the engine is off.

Its a hot start issue.

Can be related to low fuel pressure or problem with crank sensor.

Also it can be weak battery or starter.

But possibilities are to be inspected to confirm what exactly it is.------

2000 hyundai elantra hard starting when you first start it up, then after its starts, it starts right up. but some times it starts right up, an sometimes it wont it will crank an almost seems like it will...

I have exactly the same problem. Don't know where to begin. since it runs so well once it starts, I assume the fuel injectors are ok. Seems like some sensor used at startup may be the problem, or a bad/old rubber vacuum hose ... could be anything.

Starting Problem

do not i will say it again do not spray starter fluid in to the breather as you will destroy your mass air flow sensor. check or change your crank sensor and your cam sensor.. i have had the same problem and it took me like 3 months to find that out.. i have a 2000 hyundai accent and it it would start from a cold start with no problem but once it warmed up it would stall... besides the crank shaft sensor is one of the cheapest parts you can change ............

The crank sensor is easy there is no re-set get a new one. If that doesn't fix it take it back and put the old one back in. As far as reseting the security on this vehicle no legit person over the internet can give you this info. legaly. However if you are losing inj. signal check the computer and module.
