Question about Cars & Trucks
You have a small solenoid under your brake pedal. Sort of a little plastic button that is probably sticking.. For easy trouble shooting there is an adjusting screw on it.. "this should be easy but just uncomfortable being under the dash. Adjust it back or take it out to see if the problem still persists.

Check the fuses, if they are blown, make sure they are the right size. If not, do not use bigger fuses than the circuit is supposed to have. If they are too small, use the correct size. If they are, do you have any extra equipment using the same circuit? Like a stereo or GPS or an alarm system? Move them to a different circuit. Check the relays to see if they are defective. Check all the bulbs to make sure they are the right ones too. Make sure they are in the right way. Check grounding wires, make sure they have good connections.

sounds to me as if you need a new ignition switch there is a metal rod that allows the locking of the shifter and as far as cruise is concerned the lever itself goes bad often but check to ensure the vacuum line going from thet intake to the round ball is in tact and not rotted out or disconnected but the shifter is locked from the ignition switch itself if you remove the plastic housing that surrounds it you should see the rod that runs down the steering column and look for the obvious anything thats come disconnected etc .
