Question about 1989 Pontiac Firebird
1989 Firebird Formula 350 Tuned port injection. This car was put together with an older donor car and I believe they used a pre 1989 E-prom and the plenum has the cold start injector in it.... with no wire to it and is not plumbed in to the fuel rail. Any who the problem is that its extremely hard to start. It runs great and always starts its just has to crank for awhile. Its not the worlds biggest problem but it is awfully annoying. I can buy the right year e-prom on eBay for around $300. But I don't want to spend the money unless I can be sure it will fix it. What do you guys think? I really appreciate any help!!!!

Check the cold start injector useing a digital multimeter with a bar graph. Unplug the injector wires and insert the probes into the wiring plug, crank the engine and the bar graph should pulse if it does remove the injector and with the wiring reconnected and the injector held over a suitable container crank the engine and observe the spray pattern. If insufficient replace injector. This should be a starting point at least

do you have a K&N air filter system some times oil from the filter will get on the air mass flow senso and wont let it start. If it does try cleaning air mass flow sensor and some of the oil on K&N filter

with the ignition on it should be between 40.5 and 47 psi and with the car idling it should be between 30.5-44 psi
