My truck starts chugging when I get up to speed. Whats the problem?

If you mean the engine starts running rough at say 40 or 50 mph, once you go into overdrive the engine is working very hard and any weak component can show up. Could be spark plugs or other factors.
If the check engine light is on you need to have the computer checked for trouble codes to help narrow down the options.

Take out the control module and make sure there aren't any burn marks or cracks of some sort on the board. I had a similar problem and found that a new module fixed it. When i say module, i mean the switch in the interior and in the dash under the stereo. Hope that helps your problem

More than likely you have a bad speed sensor located at the rear of transmission housing on the drivers side.

4.3 liter engine, got bad gas, fuel pump went out, replaced it, in line filter has been replaced 3 times now and it still starts bad and idles rough, runs good at higher speeds though, just changed the...


Are you sure it's bad gas causing the problem? It could be a faulty idle sensor or more than likely the coolant sensor near the thermostat housing malfunctioning. It could be sending the wrong signal to the pcm(power control module) causing the timing to be too far advanced thus causing the low speed chugging & hard starting. Good luck!

you either have a bad sensor or fuel control problem call ford dealer they will give you correct pressure if you speak with maintenance. berrydalewolf

Whats the sequence i need to follow when tightening head bolts on a 1999 chevy tahoe 5.7 liter 4 wheel drive


start in the middle and work your way out ,do three passes ,first one with speed key then ratchet then with a nice shiney snap on knuckle bar .making sure the bolt holes are cleaned out with no oil or water in them
