Vingcard lock problems

Movement of the handle is not transmitted to the key system and causes the failure of unlock operation. It seems connecting rod of inner and outer handle spindle is disconnected.

SOURCE: replacing outer tie rod on a 2000 dodge neon

put the tie rod back in and thread the nut on. then you turn the inner tierod with a pipe wrench or a big pair of channel locks. you can spray the threads with pb blaster or wd-40. also if ya have a propane torch this helps loosen the threads. apply heat to the outer tierod do not heat the inner. good luck jimmy

SOURCE: 2000 LINCOLN LS - Outer tie rod removal assistance

Yes degreaser will not hurt it. The outer tie rod is retained only by one nut that connects it to the inner tie rod.Once you have this loosen just turn the outer tie rod to the left to remove it from the inner tie rod.

My blue key is transmitting to my 09 transit van but it does not unlock or lock any door and have to use key to lock and unlock. Ford have tested key and it is transmitting.

But is it transmitting the right code and if it is, is the van's security system actually receiving the signal and if it does perhaps the security system has developed amnesia.

Clearly there is more to check than just the key and I find it rather disgusting the Ford dealer didn't volunteer to see the job through instead of leaving a Ford owner bewildered and at a disadvantage.

My keyless entry for my 2008 Volvo s 40 won't work. I've tried replacing the battery but it still doesn't work. Anything I may can do before spending money on a new key.?

How are you trying to open the door , button on key fob ? With this system you can pull up on the drivers handle an it activates Antennas in the external side door handles (C30/C70 front doors, S40/V50 rear doors)
  • Antennas in the passenger compartment and cargo compartment
  • An antenna in the rear bumper
  • Quick lock motors in the lock units in the side doors
  • The remote keyless entry (RKE) receiver receives a signal from the key
  • The switch in the clutch pedal (manual transmissions) or a signal from the brake pedal switch via the central electronic module (CEM) (automatic transmissions)
  • Key-in switch.
  • Switch in door handle and lock button on handle .
If a door handle is pulled outward, a switch closes that wakes up the system and activates the antennas in the handles on the side where the handle has been pulled out. If a valid key is within a radius of approx. 1.5 metres from the handle, the relevant door will open and the vehicle will unlock one or several doors. Which doors are unlocked depends on the settings for the system. The vehicle can also be unlocked if the handle is affected on the tailgate.

    Door locks

They lock cylinders and the actual lock mechanisms are two different things. It sounds as though the power locks are fighting the manual movement of the locks when you are trying to unlock with the key. Do you have any aftermarket security or locking system on it?

You may have to remove the door trim panel and see what is going on when you are unlocking it manually. You may also be able to disable the power locks by removing the fuse or circuit breaker for the power locks and see if the problem still happens. If all else fails , you may have to take it to a reputable shop and have them diagnose the problem..

2005 Cadillac STS door problem... Front driver door wont open from outside, seems as if the electronic system isnt responding to release latch when handle is pulled? Anyone have similar problem? All other...

There is NOT a mechanical connection to the outside door handles on the front doors. There is an electronic "door popping solenoid" This is a electronic problem. I think there was a recall on this.

Driver's side door won't open in the cold

    .
Power Door Lock Operation (Front Doors)
The front doors do not have traditional door lock actuators. They have electronically controlled door latches that will operate depending on the status of the door lock system. This status is determined by the front door modules and the last known state of the lock system. If the last known state is LOCK, the latches will not release when the door handles are operated. If the last known state is UNLOCK, the latches will release when the door handles are operated. The front doors are also equipped with red door lock status indicators. The front door modules will supply power and ground to the indicators to illuminate them when the lock system is in a virtual state of lock. The indicators will not continuously illuminate when the vehicle is locked. They will illuminate for approximately 5 seconds after a lock switch activation or after a door handle has been operated and the front door modules are in a virtual state of lock. For further information on the front door latches, refer to Power Door Latch Description and Operation .
I would assume they check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ?
DTC B3062 Front Door Key Lock Switch Circuit
    • DTC B3067 Front Door Key Unlock Switch Circuit
DTC B3849 Exterior Door Handle Switch Circuit
The left front exterior door handle and right front exterior door handle switch signal circuits provide inputs to the driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) when an exterior door handle switch is activated. These inputs allow the door module to detect a door open request. The door modules provide voltage to the door handle switches. If the door module detects that a ground is applied for greater than 30 seconds continuously, a DTC is set and the door module will ignore the door handle switch input.

    Central locking system

I have recently had this problem I believe this to has been caused by a fault in the drivers door lock assembly It seems this contains the remote receiver. In my case I think there had been some radio interference being the main cause. The remote system seems to be working OK, The door lock will still not operate with the key.
Remove and replace the fuse 25 resetting the ignition module. Starting the engine, switch off remove the key from the ignition, stay in the car lock the doors using the door button, press and hold the remote unlock button for approx 5 seconds, listen to see if you can hear the clicking of the door receiver when you press the remote buttons. Press and hold lock/unlock button. You may be lucky.
