1996 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE,4.0L,6CYCL.,2WD,ELETRICAL PROBLEMS THAT MAKES MY TRUCK BACKFIRE SO HARD IT BLOWS MY MUFFLER OPEN LIKE A ALUMINUM CAN,SOMETIMES YOU CAN FEEL ELECTRICITY SHOOT TO THE PASSENGER

There are a couple of things that might cause a backfire and NONE of them have any relation to electricity:
1. Engine timing, the relationship of the CAM and the CRANK shaft. IF a valve is open when the engine cylinder fires then the resulting action is a backfire.
2.Cylinder misfire: There is one cylinder exhausting unfired fuel to the exhaust manifold and if he manifold is hot enough, the fuel mixture ignites.

What happens if there is air in the gasline?

Most likely cause is poor ignition timing. However, important to know whether backfire is through intake or exhaust manifold. Could be something as sinister as worn/burned valve. Probably wise to get compression pressures checked and ensure all manifolds tight and with no leaking gaskets, but all this AFTER getting ignition timing checked. Good luck!

Thinking of buying 1983 F150 Can start after dumping gas in the carb, will not idle, backfires through carb. Once you idle up by hand the exhaust manifold glows red, there is no converter in the...

you are getting unburned fuel into the exhaust, could be bad spark, could be engine problem, do a spark test at all the plugs, and do a compression test, exhaust valve will cause this problem,

Ford Triton V-10 engine backfired and now make an exhaust escaping sound that I cannot locate where it comes from

hmm. sounds like a valve got stuck open and blew a manifold gasket? I would check all your exhaust manifold gasket and your collecter gasket. If you continue to have backfire issues you may have a sticky valve.

03 winstar won't start, shakes ,back fires, fires 3times dies.

More than one issue, maybe? Also consider other experts' solutions.

First, it sounds like the EGR valve is sticking open. The exhaust valve is supposed to be closed when idling, otherwise open. It recirculates exhaust back into the manifold; can't idle car very well when the valve is open, but should not cause backfire.

Backfire, is generally an ignition timing issue: the ECM (electronic control module) is responsible for that. Check it / replace it.

Worst case: small break in one of the head gaskets (not likely, but symptom is the same).

Vacuum leak, too???

Hope this gets you pointed in the right direction!

Truck backfireing

Common causes of backfire are:1. old ignition wires, cap, rotor or arcing coil.2.burned valve, worn cam lobe 3.exhaust leak in manifold or pipe above converter, permitting air to enter and re-ignite unburned exhaust. I've listed these in order, so don't worry about the #2 & 3 items 'till you have determined it's not anything listed in #1.
good luck

Mercury Lynx, rebadged Ford Escort, automatic won't shift

on top of the transmission there is a white plastic cap with a clip that holds it on. inside there is a governor assy that might be sticking or the gear might be worn.
