Tools for oil change

You only need a few. You need a wrench or socket that fits the oil pan drain plug. Car makers have used all sizes of drain plugs, don't know Saturn's, anywhere from 13 millimeter to 19 millimeter size wrench or socket. One of them will fit yours.
So one wrench (when you find the right one) and you will need a drain pan to catch the oil. Next you will need an oil filter wrench or tool. There are several types and sizes-when you buy the new oil filter you can get the filter remover that fits your filter . A parts person should be able to help you select the right one. Also buy a small funnel to pour new oil into the engine .And don't forget to have a few rags handy to clean up spills and wipe off areas. That's about all that is normally required.

Where is the oil filter? Any advice on changing it? 97 mazda 626

A oil change in my area is about $25.00. A filter for my car is about $6.00. Oil is about $1.50 a quart. A oil filter tool is about $4.50. A oil catch pan is about $2.00.

You asked for my advice ... here it is: I'm not going to spend an hour crawling under my car and get dirty for the $5.00 'savings' I might achieve to be stuck with five quarts of dirty oil that I cannot dispose of.

If you are not convinced, the oil filter on your car is probably toward the rear of the engine, normally white. It will look like a small or large soda can (it will be 1/2 quart size or 1 quart size). They come in two 'standard' sizes but are not interchangable. You will need a wrench for the your sized filter. The oil drain is on the bottom of the oil pan. You will likely have to jack your car up and properly support it (dont trust the jack) so you can get under it to remove the drain. I dont know if yours is metric or USA size plug. You will want to take a collection of wrenches or sockets with you ... probably 11,12,13,14 MM and 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8 wrenches or sockets, which ever you prefer. BE @!%@ careful you dont strip the plug when you put it back - that will add probably $75.00 to the cost of your oil change.

I hope I have helped you with your question. Thanks for your interest in FixYa.com

What is the size of the allen wrench needed to fit the oil pan drain plug in a 1995 toyota celica

The oil pan drain plug should require a 14mm hex head wrench to remove. The transmission pan requires a 10mm allen head socket, or wrench to remove. Are you sure you're trying to remove the correct drain? The oil drain should be on the passenger side and on the rear corner of the pan.

I need to change the oil and filter. What size is

Make sure your car is off and cool (cannot have been running for the last hour as the oil will burn)

Owner's manual will say exactly what oil and oil filter to use. Most stores have cross reference sheets as well

You'll need a socket wrench with an adapter for the oil filter and an adapter for the drain plug
You could get an oil filter strap as well instead of the adapter.
Your filter will be located on the bottom of the engine, either on the front or back of it

Remove the filler cap on the top of the engine....

Put a drain tray under the drain pan and remove the drain plug (it will leak oil out as you're loosening it). Do not lose the drain plug as you'll be using it still. Check plug to see if there's any extra metal on it (ie. engine parts are grinding) Let drain and then repeat for oil filter.

Once completely drained, put the plug back in and then poor a bit of oil into the oil filter and then reinstall the filter. Pour the required amount of oil in through the top of the engine and close the cap....

HOW TO CHANGE OIL AND FILTER ON A 2007 BENZ 230 ,why does the local service center want 120.00 to do it

The dealer will usually charge double with it would cost for you to buy the oils and do it yourself because of the labor involved....

This only applies to 2001-2005 (I-4 supercharged engines) or w203 chasis. It might be the similar for other C-class models.

Tools Needed:
1. 27 mm socket or a cresent wrench
2. Small flat head screwdriver
3. Funnel
4. 8mm socket *
5. 1/2 inch socket *
6. Lift Jack*
7. Oil collection pan*

* Optional tools, only needed if you plan to drain the oil. If you **** the oil out these tools are not needed.

Parts/Supplies Needed:
1. Oil Filter (MB Part # A 271 180 00 09). My dealer provided a new drain plug washer the filter.
2. Oil (Mobile One 0-40) C230 (I4 SC) needs 5.8-6.0 quarts.

Procedure:
1. Locate the oil filter and slightly loosen it, DO NOT remove it at this time. This will allow the oil in the filter to flow back to the oil pan. (See Photos 1 &2 below)
2. Jack up the car and remove plastic engine covers on the bottom of the car with 8mm socket.**
3. Located oil pan drain plug and remove plug with 1/2" socket (See Photo 3 below) Make sure you have the oil collection pan under drain, because the oil will come flowing out fast.**
4. As the oil is draining out, remove the oil filter from engine bay.
5. Remove oil filter cartridge (this may take a little force) and three rubber o-rings. Replace oil filter cartridge and replace the three o-rings (See Photo 4 below) Coat the new o-rings with some new oil.
6. Install drain plug with new washer and tighten to the proper torque spec (24N/m) or 1/2 turn past finger tight.
7. Install oil filter into engine bay. DO NOT over tighten! Tight to the proper torque spec (24 N/m) or if you do NOT have a torque wrench tight a 1/4 turn past hand tight.
8. Remove oil cap and input 5.25 quarts of oil using the funnel. (The reason why you should NOT add the entire 5.8 quarts is because there is still some residual oil in the engine and it's not good to over fill. You can easly add oil, pain to take it out)
9. After putting in 5.25 qts, turn ignition key to position 2 (radio and heater/AC comes on) for 10 seconds. This will allow the oil pump to start pumping the oil into the empty filter. Then start the engine and let it run for one minute and turn off car and remove key.
10. Re-Intsall plastic engine covers on the bottom of the car with 8mm socket and lower jack(s). **

Location of oil filter on a 2007 pontiac g6

Oil filter location for a 2007 Pontiac G6. First open and lift the front hood of car. Its some what right from center on the engine about 9 inches from the radiator. All you will see is a black cap with black plastic nut in the center. You will have to buy a special tool to attach to your socket wrench to remove the cap. Turn it counter clockwise to remove it. Inside is a filter attached to a plastic part and rubber o - ring. The filter is NOT enclosed in a metal casing. Remember how it is positioned as you take it out. Pull off the old filter. Remove the old o - ring. Place new o - ring in place. Place new filter on plastic part and place it back inside the engine. Make sure it is placed in the same way it came out. Screw on plastic cap by hand most of the way. The tighten with special tool and socket wrench clockwise, but not too tight. This is now complete. Now you can drain out the old oil from the oil pan underneath the car. Remove hex screw with long wrench for more leverage. One to 2 hours later place hex screw back in by hand and tighten with wrench. Now add about 4 1/2 quarts of 5W30 oil only. Check oil level on dip stick. Add more oil if necessary. Job complete!!!

Oil drain plug location

It's located in the bottom of the oil pan of the engine under the car. If your changing your own oil, you'll want to change the filter at the same time you drain the oil. It should take about 4.5 to 5 quarts of oil to fill it through the cap on the valve cover on the top of the engine. You'll need I believe a 13mm wrench or socket for the plug and a filter wrench.
