Question about Cars & Trucks
Can anyone tell me how to by pass the security on my car? Or tell me where the VATS module is? Or something! Please?
Well, there are 2 choices You can either change the ignition lock cylinder and have the pins changed to where your current key works with the new lock cylinder or you can bypass the VATS chip reader and install resistors in-line on the signal wire to fool the VATS computer. If you do not know anything about option number 2 I would suggest paying someone to do option number 1 for you.

You can easily bypass the entire VATS system. There is a clear write-up here on this website:http://newrockies.ca. This was the only thing that saved my Park Avenue with the same security system.

Go to this website and it explains your VATS in detail it sounds like your VATS may have been disabled but as I am not there to see the wiring harness or if wires have been cut I can't say for sure, But go to this website http://vats.likeabigdog.com/ and it goes into great detail with instructions and photos. to answer your issue.
Hope this helps please do not forget to rate/vote or place a testimonial on my advice and if I can help further please do not hesitate to ask as i have a 1984 Camaro Z28 in my yard that we are starting to rebuild and have owned several and performed my own mechanics because I wanted it safe and right. And my husband is a 22 year controls electrician in concept design and engineering so when in doubt I can ask him also.

SOURCE: ignition is on security light
I had a 2000 Grand Am that did the same thing with the security light a couple of times. If I remember correctly you need to turn the ignition on for like 10 mins and then turn it off and it should start. I believe it tells you what to do in the owners manual if that doesn't work.
