Question about 2000 Saturn SL2

1 Answer

Gas pedal acts like brake?

Any time I press the gas pedal car will not accelerate more than 15 miles per hour. if you try to force it, the car will come to a stop. if you shift it into neutral going downhill, and it reaches 20 or so mph and you shift back into drive, the car will accelerate normally. I have replaced the neutral safety switch and also the spark plugs and wires. the oil and transmission fluid seem to be abnormally high.

Car randomly accelerates without pushing down on pedal and cruise control is not working

It sounds to me like a problem with cruise control? Turn it off and/or unhook it, drive it a bit and see if accelerating problem goes away? If it does, you need to troubleshoot the cruise control. Any applicable trouble codes?
That sounds dangerous to me, I'd disable the cruise control till you find the problem.
I don't know what testing you have done?

Accelerate on gas pedal and does not go past 45 miles per hour

suspect cruse control setting.
some cruse control settings can be made so that no matter how hard you press the pedal it will only go to the set speed. check manual for any secondary cruise control setting that might have been set to 45.

The truck has a horrible sound coming from the top of the motor, it is very loud and when driving between 45 and 55 feels like a jerking motion back and fourth any ideas what the problem could be chevy...

Try driving it at that speed with your foot slightly on the brake pedal. (enough to put the brake lights on). If your lock up torque converter is acting up, riding the brake will dis-allow it from locking. Do this to see if it might be a lock up converter issue. (They usually lock up for better gas milage around 45-50 miles per hour.)
