Brake fluid leak on rear drum

If you have no evidence of leaking outside the drum, most likely your brake piston is leaking or the drive shaft seal is leaking. Pull off the drum and look for the piston which spreads the two brake pads normally situated at the top. Inspect for leaks. If the fluid is thin, it is most likely brake fluid. If it is heavier like oil and really stinks, it is gear oil from a leaking seal.

How do I top up my brake fluid on my bmw530d 2006

ok your beemer doest need brake fluid added unless there is a leak in the system. you have brake pad wear indicators that light up dash light when brakes get low. the fluid in system goes down as pads wear fluid does not need added to system. at a glance at master cylinder i can tell if pads need looked at. the master cylinder is under engine cover at fire wall drivers side remove and look but dont add unless a leak is present and then have repaired.

I dont know where to add brake fluid on a 1989 jeep wrangler?

you should be able to add fluid by unscrewing to top of the master cylinder. Check for leaks around the brake lines and calipers, or a leak at the master cylinder(where you check the fluid). If a leak is found you will have to repair it. the rubber brake lines in the wheel wells are susceptible to cracking. then you will have to bleed the brake system with new fluid. I would recommend having a professional do it for you.

2003 Corolla brake fluid leak. Brake pads are new and there is no evidence of leak on ground. However, the brake fluid light comes on occasionally indicating low fluid. Sure enough, the fluid is low. Any...

If there is no visible leaking at the wheels around the braking assembly's, then the fluid will be leaking out he back of the blake master cylinder into the vacuum booster. The master cylinder is where you have been topping up the brake fluid and the booster is the big black thing the master cylinder is bolted to. You need to have this looked at by a mechanic for proper repair (unless you really trust someone),as brakes are something I think are important to a vehicles operation.

Just as a note, there is no need to buy a new master cylinder, as most brake places would have exchange units available.

Brake fluid leak after the fluid has been filled. I noticed leakage not to far from the compartment that holds the fluid four bolts that have fluid on the top of them

if you clean the area and put brake fluid in the master cylinder and have some one push on the brake pedal while you look for a leak in the general area you should see were its leaking or spraying from.

My brake light has gone on and stayed on twice in the past three months. When I take it to the garage, they add brake fluid. Why does the car seem to be losing brake fluid?

well if you are losing fluid you definatly have a leak as brake fluid is not a "topping off fluid". you could have a leaking master cylinder either externaly which can be seen on brake booster or it can be leaking into the brake booster filling it with fluid. other than that you also may be leaking from your brake hoses(one hose at each wheel), calipers(front wheels and rear if all wheel disc brakes), wheel cylinders (if you have rear drum brakes), or metal brake lines due to rust and corrosoin (run from master cylinder to each brake hose). please rate 4 thumbs if helpful.

hi, this is to do with brakes. either NO BRAKE FLUID or HANDBRAKE ON. please CHECK the BRAKE RESIVOUR. and top it up ALSO LOOK FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAKS. (it can normally run down the inside of the wheels. WARNING DO NOT SPILL BRAKE FLUID ON ANY PAINTWORK. if the car is LEAKING BRAKE FLUID (THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS). when all the brake fluid comes out NO BRAKES and this car should not be used. gerry

Leaking brake fluid now my clutch not working !!! help

Are you sure it was brake fluid leaking? If you were leaking transmission fluid then that could cause some of the mechanical workings to stall, in turn causing the clutch to freeze-up. The other (more likely) problem is that you were leaking hydraulic fluid for the hydraulic clutch.

It sounds like you will probably have a hydraulic clutch, and fluid was leaking. If you accidentally topped-up the hydraulic fluid for the clutch with brake fluid, that would be an interesting scenario... not sure how the mis-match would work out. If the hydraulic clutch fluid is simply low, you can flush it out, put new fluid in there and get it to a dealer to repair the clutch

Spongy brake pedal on my 2000 Silverado

Hi:
You most likely have a slight leak in your brake system, and it could become a safety issue, so you need to inspect your truck to look for a few clues to the problem.

Check the inside area behind each wheel, and look for signs of brake fluid.leaking, Check the level of the brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoir.
If you spot a leak, or the fluid is low, you need to get your brakes repaired or serviced soon. Top off the fluid if needed, and don't delay on getting this checked out !
