This Is Not A 89 Firebird Nor Is It Stolen. I Have The Key. The Resistance In The Key Chip Is Less Than 1 Ohm.(.9 Ohm). The Car Is Worth Less Than The Price Of The Ignition Switch. This Switch Is The Only Fix That I Have Seen Posted That Worked In Other GM Junk. This Is Another Example Of Over-Engineering. You Cant Give These 3800 Series Cars Away. Who Would Steal One?

Please Don't Tell Me To Buy A Used Ignition Switch . Most Of These Cars Are Worn Out After 5 Years Anyway 1992 Was Not GMs Best Year.

How can I bypass the anti-theft?

Completely impractical to bypass the anti-theft system in most cases.

Removing the engine ECU and having it decoded is the only alternative to using the correctly coded key in a functioning and correctly coded system.

2002. Why is anti-theft light on, preventing it from starting?

The most common cause is the chip in the key does not match the security code, or the security module has failed. The chip in the key must match the factory setting to allow the car to start.
If it worked before you replaced the lock cylinder, you need to have a new key with the same old chip cut to the new lock.

The cost for their bypass module is $249 or $179, depending on which option you choose. Your options are: made in America, or made in China.

Vehicle cranks startsup then shuts right down

Not really. Your ignition key has a little piece of metal towards the base of the key. It needs to be functional as this little metal piece is a computer chip that runs your ignition circuit. Each GM vehicle has a specific chip it uses based on your VIN number. This was GM's anti theft idea.
