Can I put green antifreeze back in my radiator after flushing it even though I have the orange antifreeze in my engine block

it wont hurt anything but the pink or orange fluid has a longer service life than the typical green. you should change the green every 2 years and 4 years for the others.

Where do antifreeze go in an 2004 ford freestar

pop the hood, there should be a light yellow partially see through tank that holds either green or orange (probably green in the case of a minivan) liquid that might say coolant on it. coolant and antifreeze are the same but make sure not to put orange in a green tank/green in an orange tank. also check what mix of antifreeze and water is best for your car. they sell it in 50/50 mixes which is common. BUT!! biggest thing is to check which color antifreeze/coolant your car takes and match it.

Color of Antifreeze/Coolant for 2002 Camry

If there was red antifreeze in there before, adding green product can cause sludging in the water jacket of the engine. They are not compatible. The right type for this engine is the red or orange type.

Have the system drained and flushed a few times, and refill with red type coolant mix.

I need to put coolant into my 2006 Chevy Impala. The reserve is almost empty & I believe that is why my check engine light is on, is that accurate? What type should I put in?

Add the coolant. but this is not why that light is on. Have the codes checked and repost. use the green antifreeze that will mix with all of the antifreezes.

Dexcool does not cause leaks, but it should not be mixed with other antifreeze. Is it possible that the oil in the antifreeze is transmission fluid from a worn out radiator? The radiator cools the engine and the trans, and internally , the radiator may have ruptured?

Can the green antifreeze be used in a 2002Volkswagon Passat instead of red fluid. 1.8 liter engine

I wouldn't attempt that. Stick with the fluid that the manufacturer recommends many problems can occur if you put the wrong coolant into the system.

check heater core lines seems like they are dripping and hitting the exhaust, but check all hoses ,no mixing orange antifreeze and green is not going to hurt your engine but the orange is longer lasting then the green mixing them changes that by a little.

My antifreeze light came on so I pulled into a gas station and bought some universal antifreeze green in color now that I'm home my husband says I should have bought the red stuff. What is the proper color...

The Orange antifreeze called GM Dexi cool, (red to your husband LOL). It's ok you put the green antifreeze in. The difference is the Green antifreeze has a of 1 year or 30,000 miles and the Orange has a life expectancy of 5 years or 100,000 miles. Being your Lumina is 12 years old and if the Orange antifreeze has never been flushed out, most likely crystals have formed in the water jackets and passageways through out the cooling system. The crystals can be flushed out with Preston radiator flush, but will take a few flushes to ensure that most of the crystals are out. Once flushed out, replace the antifreeze with the GM Dexi cool 50/50 mix water/antifreeze. Too much water will freeze and can crack the engine block, radiator, or heater core. To much Antifreeze will gel up causing the coolant to flow slower and then the engine tends to over heat. Note, it's a good time to replace the thermostat and spend the extra money for the fail safe thermostat. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to answer any more questions.

Antifreeze

the color of the antifreeze will have zero effect on the problem you are having.  I suspect the replacement engine has a leaking manifold gasket or a blown head gasket.  Why would you buy an engine with that many miles on it?

The check engine light is on in the car, possibly due to the wrong percentage of water and antifreeze put in the car. What is the correct percentage? Also, if this is the problem, does the antifreeze that...

There is no sensor for water/antifreeze mix. If its on your probably having some other issuse (your local auto parts store can scan the codes for free and tell you what the light is on for). But to answer your question the proper mix is 50/50. You can purchase the antifreeze already pre mixed so you only have to add it. If you have too much antifreeze the car will tend to overheat in the summer and if too much water the engine could freeze in the winter time. The mix is critical to your cars performance and reliability
