Went to add coolant to reservoir there was oil in it! checked radiator only coolant disconected reservoir from radiator until i get it fixed. think previous owner added oil here. any other ideas?

The way to tell if something is wrong check oil cap. Look for a white foam sometimes it's brown showing coolant in oil also look for white or blue smoke coming out of tailpipe. If you don't see any of these simple drain reservoir and flush it. I would also drain radiator to be on safe side. It is possible that last owner put oil in reservoir I have seen strange things like that and worse

I put 5 quarts of 10w40 motor oil in my ttr 225 and it was smoking really bad. The motor started clicing after awhile and then shut off and won't even turn over. Could anyone tell me whata wrong

Could have left the drain plug out. Seen experienced mechanics do that. Or maybe didn't tighten it and it fell out. Forgot the oil filter? Put the oil in the wrong spot? Sorry for the questions, but some people just don't know. Not that they are less than bright. I've seen oil in the coolant reservoir, coolant in the wiper reservoir, engine oil in the power steering and brake reservoir. Engine is probably dead though.

Ok, first thing, its a Ford Product. Thats an issue for another time. But for this problem, perhaps you bought the wrong thermostat for the car. They are made to open at specific temperatures. If the one you put in opens at say 200 degrees, and your car wants one that opens at say 145 degrees, then your gonna over heat even before you have any water flowing through the engine to keep it cool.

Having trouble with power steering pump. I think it has to do with the fluid/leak fixer I put in. I have been given some small amount of hope that if I drain the system and put the correct fluid in it I...

Hello, since you have a Limited it probably has an oil cooler at the bottom front of the vehicle. They are usually hung ahead of the radiator.

The oil cooler is a good access point because it is the lowest point of the system. One of your lines will come from your Reservoir and the other will go to the pump. Check the Reservoir line for leaks as the plastic clips hold moisture and corrode the metal portion of the line. These small air leaks will reduce the efficiency of your pump.

Unless Ford makes a product to clean the pump, I would use the correct fluid and let the pump cycle the fluid out 1 quart at a time. Drain the Reservoir first, let the pump side drain out the cooler line, reconnect, add 1 quart, run vehicle, drain Reservoir, drain pump line, repeat. Probably waste 3 quarts of fresh fluid doing this, 1 quart at a time.

Now I understand if noise is the problem, Lube-guard makes about 8 products and the one for Power steering will reduce noise almost immediately. I have heard it work on a 2004 F150. There are also Quick lube places with pumps for Transmission fluid changes. If you want to try their system, I believe they can use adapters and hook you up.

Fixing a washer reservoir leak

no chance bruv, the bottle is under the wing and you will have to take the plastic inner wing out to gain access ,then its either the motor rubber grommet or a pipe leaking ---somewhere --- never had a split bottle but their is always a first time for everything
