Have a 1990 ford f150 van 4.9 gas engine. Was running fine going down highway and died. waited a few mins and it started. Drove about 20ft and died again. Ive replaced filter still did it. then i replaced fuel pump which was external from tank. Still runs then dies after 10 min idling.

With 2 tanks have you a balance pipe between tanks or a 2 way tap. IT sponds as if there is a low pressure problem ( vacuum) occuring as the pump draws out fuel and as atmospheric pressure is needed to push fuel to the pump the pump will not be able to keep up pressure . Check for correct fuel cap on both tanks and a balance tube between tanks to allow air to keep the pressure equal in the tanks
