SOURCE: My 1988 Ford F150 4X4 5.8L with duel tanks runs

With 2 tanks have you a balance pipe between tanks or a 2 way tap. IT sponds as if there is a low pressure problem ( vacuum) occuring as the pump draws out fuel and as atmospheric pressure is needed to push fuel to the pump the pump will not be able to keep up pressure . Check for correct fuel cap on both tanks and a balance tube between tanks to allow air to keep the pressure equal in the tanks

Why does my van start, but engine dies within one minute? We have replaced fuel filter and van ran fine for about 4 days and now it will start, but dies shortly after.

Brandy, being that the filter helped for a few days, it is probably fuel related. Gas goes from the fuel pump to the filter, through the filter to the gas lines, from the lines to the injectors, and to the engine. You need to make sure the fuel pump is working properly. It should run at 12 volts. It may need changed. Check your gas lines and make sure none are damaged. I don't think it is the lines, but it doesn't hurt to check. You may have bad fuel injectors. They will need checked as well. Fuel pump, filter, lines, and injectors. These are your fuel system. When you have a fuel issue, these are what you check. Thanks for choosing FixYa and best of luck Brandy.

1990 f 350 7.3 liter runs fine until fuel tank

install clear plastin line in the return from the injector pump, any air in the fuel means trouble, somewhere in the fuel system its drawing air , usually neat the tanks, but not leaking enough for fuel to leak

When i press the gas paddle i dont get that power of a v8 it has some fluttering and when i ease off the paddle it runs fine

could be a variety of things.....have you done ne recent work to it? It could be a vacuum line not properly routed....could be a leaky accelerator pump...fuel filter.....possible weak fuel pump itself......

Then the engine fuse may be blown it will be marked ECM I think, the fuel pump and injector circuits are two seperate systems, the fuel pump most likely has a stuck relay.
