by slamming down the bonnet makes the light work indicates a loose bulb or a bad/loose earth in the system. Check that the bulb is tight under the fitment springs that hold it in the reflector and that the earth wires are making good contact on the bulb and where it earths out
Hi there, together with providing you the solution to the problem, I also took the liberty of going one step further in giving you steps on how to remove the headlight bulb.
Find the hood release handle and activate it, the hood should pop open.
Once the hood is popped open locate the hood secondary or safety latch and release it. Then finish opening the hood.
Locate and remove mounting clips for any plastic shields that cover the headlight lens mounting screws or clips.
Some headlight bulbs can be replaced by simply grasping the bulb socket behind the headlight lens and turn it counter clockwise to remove it. This will expose the headlight bulb.
If the headlight bulb socket is not accessible the headlight lens may need to be remove or obstructions behind the bulb removed to gain access to the headlight bulb socket.
To remove the headlight lens remove all mounting screws and clips that hold the headlight lens in place.
After the headlight housing has been removed from it's mounts, release the headlight bulb from the headlight lens housing (turn counter clockwise) the bulb will then come out of the headlight assembly. Once removed, visually verify that the replacement bulb is exactly the same as the failed bulb before to ensure a proper repair.
Clean the headlight lens free from all debris to help maintain the seal from the bulb to the lens. This will keep moisture out of the lens.
Install the new headlight bulb by turning the retainer ring or bulb clockwise.
Re-install the headlight lens housing and reinstall electrical connector.
Re-install plastic covers.
After the job is complete turn the ignition key to the "on" position and activate the headlight switch. Observe the newly replaced headlight bulb to ensure proper operation.
Your car is equipped with headlight unitsthat house the headlight bulbs, which illuminate the road during dark drivinghours or bad weather conditions. You just need screwdriver and replacementheadlight to do this job. This is how to do it
First you Open the hood of the Elantra and locate the damagedheadlight unit. Look for a metal band that secures the unit in place. Removethe screws surrounding the metal band using a flat-head screwdriver. The bandwill pop off as the screws are removed. Remove the band completely by slidingit off of the headlight unit.
2nd, Remove the headlight unit by pulling it out ofposition. Disconnect the electrical connector, located on the back of the unit.
3rd , Insert the replacement unit into place and attachthe electrical connector. Place the metal band around the unit and secure theband by replacing each screw. Use the flathead screwdriver to tighten eachscrew. Repeat this process for the opposite headlight unit, if necessary. Closethe hood of the Hyundai Elantra.
pop hood, look behind the headlight assembly. there should be an assembly you twist and remove the bulb. there should be a curved metal "support". lift this up, remove old bulb, put in new bulb. secure "support" back to original position. put assembly back into hole and twist back on.
most of the time the dullness in the headlight assembly cannot be due to the lens dirt. this is due to poor reflector which has dulled out in the years of use. open the assembly remove the bulb and use good quality liquid cleaners to clean through the bulb opening. use a dry cloth to polish and finish off.
This is an 'inside' job. Open the hood and you will see on the back of the light a clip. Remove this and the bulb will fall out. BUT you should wear gloves to replace the new bulb! Never touch it with bare hands! This is not an easy job! You will more than likely think you have the wroung part!
open the hood there is a round black or gray cover that twist quarter turn.then the bulb is held on with a wire clamp that is a tick to un snap .you may need to look at a picture to understand.
You shouldn't need to. If you pop your hood open, you can unplu the headlight hardness from the bulbs. Then you should be able to turn the bulb assembly about a 1/4 to 1/2 turn and they will come right out.
part # 9003ST...back of headlamp bucket..undo connector then twist out bulb assembly...do not touch glass on replacement bulb as your hands oils will cook the new bulb
