There may not be much you can do yourself.
A mechanic would check to see if the system is full of freon, then if the compressor clutch is getting power.

Capacitor location

some small AC motors may not have capacitor........normally Blower motors are high speed and high start-up torque just like kitchen blender motors. These motors do not have capacitor although they work on AC domestic supply. They have a stater winding and a rotor winding. Rotor gets its supply from carbon brushes generally located at its bottom. They often get worn out and start sparking. One can easely get them replaced.

2001 ford taurus ac wont engage the compressor when moved to ac selection

Could be a bad pressure switch located on the accumulator. With the car turned off try unplugging the connector and run a wire across. Start the car and turn on the a/c. If it starts to work shut the car down and replace the switch.

I have a 1998 chevy cavalier, I was driing and the AC was working. I stopped and when I started teh car again a couple hours latter the AC was not working. The fuses are good and the comressor and dryer...

Did you check the AC relay? Usually located under the hood, try swapping it with another relay with the same part number that isn't required to run the vehicle. If the AC now works, then replace the relay. If not , then verify compressor operation. With the engine running, watch the compressor clutch while someone else turns on the AC control. The clutch should engage and begin to run. If not, then find the pressure cycling switch usually located on the accumulator. Disconnect the harness and jumper the contacts. With the engine off and the key turned on , turn the AC control on. You should now be able to watch the clutch engage and disengage by removing and replacing the jumper lead. If it does, then replace the switch. I hope this information is helpful. Thanks for trying Fixya.

My husbands 93 park ave ac compressor is not running, when he relplaced the ac relay it worked one time and then no longer works. There doesn't seem to be any power getting to the compressor, could there...

If it has the auto air functions. On the passenger side under glovebox remove the black cover under the dash and there is a hidden fuse block with a ac fuse. Check for this a very common issue. Also if the ac is fully charged you can unplug the low pressure switch located on the accumulator( silver canister located by the relays towards the firewall) and take a wire and place between the two terminals just make sure the compressor will does come on.If the ac is turned on and you jump that switch and the compressor does turn and ac starts working then a good possibilty that the low pressure may be bad. Would check the fuse first.

Can't find AC Leak

their has to be a leak you will need yellow uv glasses and a blacklight to find it.. if the evaporator core is leaking it won't be visible since it is located inside the heater case behind the dash. make sure to look at all ac components, compressor, lines, fittings, reciever dryer, and condenser a cheap book for your car will show you the locations of these components in case your not familiar with the system
