Iveco 35.10 1998 2.8 turbo diesel timing marks

The timing mark will be either on the harmonic balancer or in a hole in the bell housing. If in the bell housing there will be a pointer that will point to marks on the flywheel face and the timing mark will be ING or a number like 15 or 17 or 21 . This is the number of degrees before TDC that your engine has to be set on for correct timing. You will get this number from a work shop manual or a dealer service centre or a diesel pump repair shop. The same on the harmonic balancer . Unlike petrol engine s where you can alter the ignition timing, with a diesel, that required timing mark is exact and any attempt to vary it ( advance - retard ) will result in engine damage . If the spec\'s say 17 degrees then that is it.

Pulled distributor on 1992 ford tempo need step by step in layman's terms how to put back and time it. Replaced ing.mod.help please ...2.3 engine

you need to find your # 1cylinder you can do this by aliening the timing marks on back of bottom pulley (harmonic balancer) usually #1 is toward front take the spark plug out and carefully insert like wire or sewer driver to verify piston is all the way up thats TDC (top dead center) now locate # 1 plug wire mark the cap and distributor with marker remove cap install distributor so the rotor is pointing at # 1 find out your firing order you can bump the starter to know the rotation.

When setting the timing marks together distributor always points to #6 not #1 put new timing chain & gears in but cant get it timed right 5.2

Is it possible to turn the distributor shaft 180 degrees and reinstall the dist ?
I am assuming you have spark at the plugs, just not at the right time ?
If the distributor has not been moved, and the rotor points to the wrong wire, you could have put the cam gear in upside down ?

I need ti change the flasher ing my 01 Saturn SL1 and I cant seem to find where it goes. Can you please help?!!!

Your Saturn has a flasher module located behind dash fuse panel, mounted directly to the panel itself, purchase new module and see exactly what it looks like then locate it at fuse panel and replace it.

Installed new distributor and cant get the thing started getting spark at points but not at plugs

You probably have it out of time, when it hits the cam it twists around out of time, you have to make sure the rotor is pointing to No. 1 piston. when No 1 is up, TDC, and the timing mark on the front of the engine is on its mark. The rotor will twist down on the cam, you can put the cap on and follow the wire to number 1 , then make sure when it is seated, it is pointing to no 1. No 1 is the front most cylinder. Hope this helps.

I CANT GET IT TO START GOT SPARK GOT PETROL I,AM NOT SURE ABOUTTHE TIMING BELT AND THE MARKS ON THE CAMS IF I LINE UP THE MARKS ON THE CAM THEN MY ROTOR DONT LINE UP WITH MY DIST ON NO 1

You don't say what car or how many cylinders, so lets try a generic fix. With the tappet cover off, turn the engine until the valves on #1 cylinder rock. At this point the timing mark on your pulley should line up with the timing mark on the casing, if they do not your cam timing is out. Note that when these marks line up, your distributor should be pointing 180 deg. from the #1 plug lead position. You need to turn the crankshaft 360 deg. to get #1 TDC.

Setting radio time

Look on your dashboard near the clock for two little buttons usually marked "HR" and "MIN". Now press on HR and hold in til you see the hour numbers change then let go when it is where you want it to be, now do exact same with your MIN button and you should be good to go.

Need to know how to set the timing

Cylinder #1 set at TDC, compression stroke. Cam marks level with head, aligned with mark on cover, or if unclear where to mark the cam: SET Cam at point where intake valve has just closed and both valves are shut on cyl. #1, cam gear marks should start to appear more clearly to technician, along with corresponding alignment points. This is ballpark. Remember, on clockwise rotation, after cylinder #1 intake valve(s) are shut, the cam will continue to rotate 90 degrees and come to rest at a position in which both exhaust and intake valves are at their maximum lash point. (the most play) Hopefully if you get this close, you will decipher the marks that exist on your Bavarian machine.
