Sounds like the linkage might be worn out. Had this problem with a 1980 Chevrolet Suburban with 100,000 mi. in 1999 or so, and the fix was about $100 at a local transmission shop. In our situation, the 1980 Suburban's linkage wasn't allowing it to go into Park very well, and the car would roll even though the indicator said 'P' on the dashboard.
In the case of our Suburban, the linkage components which consisted of rods and pivots inside of the transmission oil pan had to be replaced.
I hope this story helps you out on your 2001 Tundra that is now approaching 10 years old.
