Ford think electric car

Loaned my 2002, TH!NK 72 VOLT ELECTRIC CAR TO A FRIEND WHO PARKED IT AND LEFT THE LIGHTS ON. THE BATTERIES WERE RECHARGED (GEL TYPE 12 V. BATTERIES) AND THE VOLTAGE NOW HOLDS AND READS 79.5 V. MY PROBLEM IS THAT NOW THERE IS NO POWER TO MOVE IN FORWARD OR REVERSE AND THE GAUGE WILL NOT LIGHT UP. CHECKED THE POWERPOINT FUSE AND (3) ACCESSORY FUSES AND THEY ARE OK. IS THERE A FUSE OR FUSES IN THE BOX THAT CONTAINS THE SERVICE ENABLE/DISABLE SWITCH JUST UNDER THE REAR OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT? I'M WILLING TO TEAR INTO THAT LOCATION PROVIDED THERE ARE FUSES THAT THAT COULD BE CHECKED/CHANGED TO GET THIS VEHICLE MOVING AGAIN.

SOURCE: as reported before, there is no power in

check for corrosion on the large positive wire that leads to the starter. allthough you have 12 volts, but corrosion cant handle amperage. or it may be possible that you just need a new starter, you can remove the starter, and apply a seperate power source like a jump pack or seperate battery to verify that the starter is ok

Battery dead. recharged, car started. drove 20 miles. parked 8 hrs. drove back home. after parking 15 minutes car wont start. Which is problem, alternator or battery?

Don't know.
You would need to have both components tested. It could be a dead cell in the battery. Or a bad connection. If the alternator were at fault it should discharge when the engine is running and slowly go dead.

Looking for manual or information my 1988 TravelAire Camper van. It is on a Ford e-250 chassis. Need to know how the 120 Volt system works; i.e. does it operate all lights (including 12 volt); does it...

Typically, the 110 Volt will go into a power center which should include a small amp battery recharger. Your 12 volt lights should run off a 'house' battery which should be isolated from the truck battery, yet, the truck alternator should charge the "house" battery on the road. The device that allows this is called a Isolator. You may find a manual switch instead. You definitely don't want the house and truck battery to both run yourf coach with no recharge capability. Some systems have a 'emergency start" switch which allows you to use the house battery to start the engine. All 12 volt house stuff should run off the house battery and the battery should be recharged by the truck or the small battery charger. Do you have an evap frig? Runs on propane or electricity? It needs 12 volts whether it is running on gas or 110 Volts. The 12 volts runs the control panel and the heat to make it work is supplied by the gas or by a electric calrod if 110 is available.

I am pretty familiar with these electrical systems ... I seriously doubt you will find any information on your 20+ year old motor home. Typically, the printed specs and equipment and the data is obsolete before the ink is dry because the manufacturers use what is available as they build. If you have additional questions simply click on the "add comment" or the "reply" link and I will take a look-see.

I hope this answers your current question. Thanks for your interest in FixYa.com

Battery goes flat frequently after 5 days not used. Ford say that it is because of electrical componentry runnign all the time and you have to expect this. Is this so? I have put in a new gel battery and...

Why are you using a gel battery?? you shuld only be using a starting battery. Gel batteries, when weather gets really cold, will die out and cannot be recharged. They are not like a typical starting battery made for the vehicles large drain when starting.
