1997 7.3 poor fuel milleage

The spring that controls the throttle cable on a car is called a throttle return spring or a throttle-valve spring. This helps determine the position of the throttle cable and controls its pressure.
Poor fuel mileage is when a vehicle uses excessive amounts of fuel in order to travel far.

I just replaced a fuel pump on my 1999 chevy 4.8l and now it will not start at all. I can hear the fuel pump turning on but when I try to start it, it is acting like it isnt getting any gas.. checked all...

Try this------- turn ignition on, wait for pump to stop, then turn back on, do this about 5 times so the pump can build up pressure in the line.
After the 5th time, hold the throttle down about half way, if there isn't some other problem, it should fire up.

1997 chevy 1500 wont shift in to 1 gear or over drive

Shift solenoid in the transmission pan. There is two so you might want to replace both and get the filter and fluid also. Easy fix, Drop the pan and there is two square boxes that look like relays that you can pull out on the bottom. This should solve your problem and if it doesn't there is more major work but I am pretty sure this is it because it's common on these trucks.

I do know these are good for sucking in the gasket for the pan on the bottom of the intake and causing spark knock and oil consumption but not a throttle body gasket.
