How to program New key switch 2000 oldsmobile silhouette

Key switch ? key fob ? Transmitter Programming ?
If you lose a transmitter, program the old and new transmitter(s) into the remote control door lock receiver's memory. Up to 4 transmitters may be programmed.
Important: Once the remote control door lock receiver enters the programming/diagnostic mode, the programming of the first transmitter erases all previous transmitter programming information, requiring the programming of all transmitters.
Program only 1 vehicle remote control door lock receiver at a time. If more than 1 receiver is being programmed at the same time, it is possible that the same transmitter could be programmed to more than 1 remote control door lock receiver.
Perform the following steps in order to program the transmitter:
  1. Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
  2. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse from the fuse panel. Refer to Fuse Block in Wiring Systems.
  3. Close all of the doors.
  4. Close the lift gate.
  5. Turn the ignition lock cylinder to ACC.
  6. Turn the ignition lock cylinder to OFF, and then back to ACC within 1 second.
  7. Open and close any vehicle door.
  8. A chime will be heard when the system enters the BCM programming/diagnostic mode.
Important: After 7 seconds, a chime may be heard confirming successful synchronization. It is necessary to wait approximately 14 seconds for a second chime that will confirm successful programming.
  9. Press and hold the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 14 seconds.
  10. Repeat the previous step on each additional transmitter to be programmed.
  11. Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
  12. Install the BCM PRGRM fuse back into the fuse panel. Refer to Fuse Block in Wiring Systems.

How do you reset the alarm system on a 98 olds silhouette after it triggers without the remote entry

Theft Deterrent Arm/Disarm Modes
Important: Although mode 2 provides increased security, the content theft deterrent system disarms only by pressing unlock on the keyless entry transmitter. This can pose a problem if the keyless entry transmitter is damaged, lost, or inoperative for any reason while you attempt to disarm the content theft deterrent system.
Mode 1: The system arms when you lock the doors with the keyless entry transmitter. The system disarms when you unlock the left front, right front, or liftgate door with the key or the keyless entry transmitter. The system does not arm when you lock the doors with a power door lock switch.

Mode 2: The system arms when you lock the doors with the keyless entry transmitter. The system disarms when you unlock the doors with the keyless entry transmitter. The system does not disarm when you unlock the doors with the key.

Mode 3: The system arms when you lock the doors using a power door lock switch or the keyless entry transmitter. The system disarms when you unlock the left front, right front, or liftgate door with the key or the keyless entry transmitter.
Changing the Feature Customization Modes
  1. Turn off the IP dimmer switch.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  3. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. The BCM flashes the fasten belts indicator and sounds the chime 4 times, which indicates that BCM type 4 is installed on the vehicle. At this point, the BCM has entered the feature customization mode.
  5. In order to change the theft deterrent/shock sensor mode, turn the headlamp switch from OFF to PARK and back to OFF.
  6. The BCM flashes the fasten belts indicator and sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the theft deterrent/shock sensor mode. A transition past mode 4 repeats the sequence starting with mode 1.
  7. Complete the following steps in order to change the theft deterrent arm/disarm mode:
6.1.
Insert the key in the left front, right front, or liftgate door lock cylinder.

6.2.
Rotate the key from the center to the unlock position.

6.3.
Press the horn button on the remote keyless entry transmitter.

6.4.
Count the number of chimes that you hear. The number of chimes tells you which mode you have set.

6.5.
Press the horn button again in order to change the mode. Continue to press the button until you hear the number of chimes that indicates the mode that you want.

6.6.
Turn the key back to the center position and remove the key from the door key cylinder.

In order to exit and save the current feature customization modes use the following procedure:

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reinstall the BCM PRGRM fuse.
If you are unable to change locking modes Theft Deterrent System Feature Customization Inoperative

Is it possible to program a new keyless remote without a dealer? Where is the cheapest place to purchase them. I asked a dealer locally, and the cost to purchase the remote was ridiculous!

Cheapest place I find is the Salvage Yard for only $5.00. The bad news is that to program the new remote, you need a tech2 scanner to set that up. Most Transmission shop has a Tech2 scanner now and i am sure you can get them to help you program the new remote for a much better price then the Dealer.
The scan tool is necessary to enter the programming mode on the newer vehicles. There just isn't any other way to do it. Your's being the first year, you may get lucky that you can reprogram it with this instruction which is the 2005 Montana's reprogram.

IMPORTANT: Before entering programming mode, have in possession all of the remotes you will be useing on the vehicle. Once you program the remote. all previous remotes that were programmed will be erased from memory. The other remotes will not be functional until you program the them again.

1. Remove the key from the ignition.

2. Remove the "BCM PRGRM" fuse from the fuse panel. Use the legend on the fuse panel to properly locate the "BCM PRGRM" fuse. Fuse panel is accessed by opening the front passenger door.

3. Close all of the doors.

6. Turn the key to OFF and then back to ACC within 1 second.

7. Open and close any vehicle door. A chime will be heard
when the system enters into programming mode.

8. Press and hold the remote LOCK and UNLOCK buttons
simultaneously for 14 seconds.

Where is the bcm program fuse on a 2005 pontiac montana sv6

The BCM program fuse on a 2005 Montanna SV6 is called something different in the manual. It's called a “Keyless Entry Module” fuse and it is fuse #7. The fuse panel is located on the passenger side on the side of the dash. There is a cover with an indent hole in it to pull the fuse cover off. It's really hard to pull it off and it almost seems like your going to break it when your trying to get if off. Keep pulling, it will come off! On the fuse cover, fuse #7 is labeled " RFA MDLS" which is again different than what is in the manual. I followed the procedure to reprogram my "Key Fob" and within 45secs, I had reprogrammed my key FOB! I was so excited, because, I have been trying locate the BCM fuse for 4 weeks. I think GMC does not want us to know it’s location or name, so you would have to go into a dealership to get your Key Fobs reprogrammed costing about a $100 for a minute of work.

I bought a 2005 Montana with only one remote

Posting the entire procedure if someone else doesnt have it.
The BCM Fuse you are looking for is actually the door lock fuse, or #1 fuse in the instrument panel fusebox. This fusebox can be found on the passenger side when you open up the door. Where the door and the dash meet, there is a panel that comes off and underneath is the fuse box. So pull that #1 fuse out.

Keep the windows open as a safety measure, then,
Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse from the fuse panel. Refer to Fuse Block in Wiring Systems.
Close all of the doors.
Close the liftgate.
Turn the ignition lock cylinder to ACC.
Turn the ignition lock cylinder to OFF, and then back to ACC within 1 second.
Open and close any vehicle door. A chime will be heard when the system enters the BCM programming/diagnostic mode.
Important
After 7 seconds, a chime may be heard confirming successful synchronization. It is necessary to wait approximately
14 seconds for a second chime that will confirm successful programming.

Press and hold the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 14 seconds.
Repeat the previous step on each additional transmitter to be programmed.
Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Install the BCM PRGRM fuse back into the fuse panel. Refer to Fuse Block in Wiring Systems.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The confusion in this procedure when working with a Montana SV6 is that there is no fuse called the BCM PRGRM fuse. In the SV6, it is actually the door lock fuse, or #1 fuse in the instrument panel fusebox. This fusebox can be found on the passenger side when you open up the door. Where the door and the dash meet, there is a panel that comes off and underneath is the fuse box. So pull that #1 fuse out. Then I did the ACC steps after closing all doors, but I never heard a chime signaling the start of the reprogramming step. Since I didnt hear a chime, I just held down the two lock buttons on the remote keychain for at least 14 seconds, and when that was done, I could push the lock buttons and see that the parking lights would flash. So then I held down the two lock keys on my other keychain and programmed
that one too. That's it! Turn the car off put the fuse back in, and roll up the windows.

Ok, so there is the procedure I used and everything works great! Hope it helps someone
