1990 ford festiva over heated and blew radiator now will not start

Probably blew the head gasket, warped the head or the timing belt is broken. Look inside the oil fill cap and watch to see if anything is moving inside, cam shaft or rockers, when you crank the engine over. If you can see them and they don't move, the belt is broken. Probably time to get rid of it and find something else to drive.

I have oil leaking into my 1990 ford festivas radiator, what could be causing this?Is this a serious problem?

It could be the transmission oil leaking since the transmission fluid goes through the bottom of the radiator to cool off. You may need to replace the radiator. But if it's motor oil then there is a blown gasket on the motor or crack. Look at the motor oil on the dip stick and see if it looks normal or is milky looking indicating that there is also water in your motor. If it's just the radiator then it's not a serious as it is if the water is in the motor. Motor will be damaged with water in it.

Need to replace engine thermostat on 1990 festiva

follow the top radiator hose fron radiator to engine, there at end of the hose is the thermostat housing. remove hose from engine side, also remove the 2 bolts from housing to reveal the thermostat. remember which way the thermostats positioned in the housing. replace with your new one and also new gasket. reinstall your hose and you should be good to prepared to lose some fluid when you remove the top radiator hose. i've always found that a little rtv glue'''blue glue''' will hold the gasket in place while you're replacing you thermostat. hope this helps!!

I have a 1990 Ford Festiva that has oil in the coolant. There is no water in the oil and the car runs fine. We replaced the head gasket and the radiator and it still gets oil in the radiator.

it is very hard to get all residue out of coolant, try to flush with water and fill with water and dish liquid about 1/4 cup, run at high idle approx 1500rpm for 20-30mins, and then flush out and try that, if head gaskets and rad was done properly there is no reason for oil in coolant except for left over oil

1991 ford festiva replaced alternator new

it is part of the alternator actually on a lucas unit, a small black box bolted to the rear of the alternator.

You may have a faulty ignition switch or a corroded engine earth cable causing the alternator not to reach charging voltage.

Temp gauge stopped working ford fiesta 97/ 1.25

Festiva? Really? How many miles on it? The probe in the neck of the radiator inlet is bad or crusty...$40 maybe.
Good Luck

Wher is the refill point for a Festiva 1996 manual transmission?

If you look at the transmission, you will find a drain plug on the bottom, look for a similar plug on the side of the transmission, take out plug and if oil is at the bottom of side plug hole, trans is full, if not refill here until oil is running out of hole, reinstall plug.

When i turn my lights on my battery drains.

Even though your alternator charges in the daytime, when there is a load on it, the alternator can't bear the load, your alternator maybe weak but not completely bad. You may have to have your connections checked
