There should be an idler pulley that keeps the belt tight, you loosen the center bolt in the pulley then turn down the adjusting bolt.

What size belt can I use to bye pass the ac compressor on a 1994 olds cutless ceira s

A better idea is to buy a free-wheeling pulley and bracket that is called an "AC delete pulley". Then you can still use the standard belt.

Google the Ac delete, or check at parts stores.

Where is the air conditioning unit located in the engine compartment

I assume you mean the AC compressor, this is on the front of the engine (down low) and is driven by a belt. See picture below of AC compressor.

How many units does the AC belt run , what are the consequences of cutting the AC belt?

depending on the car your serp belt may control all functions from alternator to power steering as well as the a/c make sure it was the a/c compressor that caused this it could have been coolant from the radiator or the high pressure release valve if its running rough it might be an issue with injectors is the check engine lite on. I would recommend a garage or dealer

How do I replace the three belts, ac, alternator and power steering?

these motors are quite easy to do with the V belts and if you look you will see the adjusters have a tightening bolt to pull the belts up tight but you must slacken the whloe unit first so you can use the adjuster without breaking something first like a bracket

You should bring this repair to a repair facility, this is not like changing oil and could require special tools to replace.

Serpentine belt tensioner pulley adjustment

If this is an ac car you will need to get the correct belt and retreive a routing diagram from autzone or the manual. sometimes the pulleys are different for ac versus non ac and you may have to remove an idler to run the belt

Don't know what engine you have, but as long as that belt only drives the AC you should be o.k. If the AC isn't noisy when freewheeling, or off, you can simply unplug the connector at the compressor, but if noisy all the time, yes the belt will have to come off, just double check that the belt isn't running anything else like water pump or something on the back (smooth side) side of the belt. Be aware that your defrost etc, will take a little longer to do it's job with that disconnected as it uses the ac compressor to displace moisture(humidity) in the air.

Alternator Belt

TAKE A ROPE AND RUN IT AS IF IT WERE A BELT ALONG THE ALTERNATOR AND CRANKSHAFT. MEASURE THE LENGTH OF ROPE THEN GO TO PARTS STORE TO BUY A SMALLER BELT. THE IDEA IS TO BYPASS THE AC BEING A 94 IM SURE IT HASN'T WORKED IN QUITE SOME TIME, I'VE BEEN A MECHANIC FOR 8 YEARS AND WE BYPASS THESE ALL THE TIME, THE TENSIONER ON THAT CAR I BELIEVE IS ON THE ALTERNATOR, HONDA MADE THE AC OPTIONAL.. BELTS ARE USUALLY NAMED AFTER THERE SIZE (IE 4060934 IS 93.4 INCHES LONG) IF NEED BE REMOVE THE AC COMPRESSOR.
