Starter replacement on f150 4.6

Ford engineers obviously got a big laugh when they designed this one. The third bolt is not visible, but it is right at the top of the bolt "circle", the bottom two are visible and fairly accessible. If you have small hands, you might be able to reach a finger way up there and feel it. Because of the engine mount, you have to have a socket and extension that is exactly the right length, leaving just enough room between the end of the starter and the engine mount to attach a ratchet. Getting the socket on the bolt head is sort of a stab in the dark; push the socket and extension toward where you think the bolt is, and sometimes you can feel the socket engage the bolt head. The only other option might be to remove the exhaust manifold so you can see the bolt, but you are likely to break off at least one manifold bolt/stud, so that would be a last resort for me. Once the top starter bolt is loosened, you might have better luck finishing the removal with 1/4 inch drive tools as they take up less space.

1999 deville 4.6 engine, cant get alternator to line up,dose it bolt in the top or just ride againest engine

There is a bolt that will go through the unit. There is a spacer missing - it is about this long
----------- < Look around the engine behind where the Alternator was removed and also look on the ground. The spacer is about an inch long and 3/8th of an inch in length. Put this in the top where the bolt goes in and it will take up the slack and position the alternator right where it need to set.
You can get these from your local parts store or used at the salvage yard.

2000 4.0 6 cyl jeep wrangler cant remove two top tran to engine bolts. not enough room for wrench. how do you get them out?

You have to remove the tranny mount and slowly lower the rear of the tranny which will then give you enough room, with a few long extensions, to unbolt those top two bolts.

How do i remove a power steering pump on my 2003 hyundai santa fe. i removed the bottom bolt but i cant figure out how to remove the top bolt.

I presume your Santa Fe sports the 3.5 liter V6 engine? If it's got the NUT, it's at the front & there's a nut stud. If it's got the BOLT, it's accessed from the opposite (anterior) side using a long, long extension. If you have a vehicle hoist/lift, you can easily see it. If you're on your back with the vehicle on jack stands, it's much more difficult to see the 14mm bolt between the exhaust flex pipe and heat shield of the exhaust manifold at the right hand side of the engine.
Say you're directly beneath the engine oil pan, move toward the transmission and look upward and forward between the 1:00 and 2:00 oclock positions of the engine (toward the power steering pump) - 14mm bolt

I am trying to replace the starter in my 86 nissan stanza but cant see it

NISSAN STANZA WAGON - Manual Transmission

Q. Where is the starter on a 1986 nissan stanza station wagon and how do you get to it ?

Due to limited access to the starter, it is recommended that the transaxle be removed when servicing the starter.

REMOVAL:

1. Cold vehicle.

Remove 2 mounting bracket bolts, 10 & 12 mm (Figure 1).

Remove top starter motor bolt 14 mm with universal & long extensions.

Raise vehicle on hoist.

Remove front splash pans 10 mm.

Automatic transmission: Drain 2 qts out.

Remove rt-ft wheel 21 mm., & tie rod (Figure 3), axle cap, cotter pin, adj-nut & rubber washer.

Remove ball joint nuts 17 mm., left lower control arm 19mm. & swaybar bracket 14 mm. (Fig 2).

Remove axle nut 36mm (Figure 4), the front tube, catalytic converter heat insulators 10mm, ctr ex-tube 17 mm., and front tube from exhaust system (Figure 5).

Remove long bolt from ft engine mount (next to radiator), 17mm socket (Figure 6, Item A).

Remove tension rod mount 14 mm. Has adj-bracket with rubber insulators (Fig 6, Items B, C).

Remove right side drive shaft bolts that hold shaft to bracket mounted on engine (Fig7) 12mm.

Remove rt-driveshaft.

CAUTION: Transaxle side seals are cut by spline teeth.

Install hoist type transmission jack and wooden block under the transmission/engine. Be certain the transmission is safely balanced on the hoist.

Remove 5 engine crossmember mounts (3 bolts, 2 nuts) 14mm.

Remove nut that attaches crossmember to engine mount.

Loosen stabilizer bar mounts to allow adequate clearance for crossmember to be removed.

Remove following brackets to allow starter assembly to pass through bottom:

tubular support bracket - engine to transaxle

angled support bracket - driveshaft bracket to engine mount

manifold collector stay - (bottom bolts)

Loosen top bolts, remove bracket above driveshaft-holding bracket 14mm.

NOTE: This bracket is slotted to allow it to slide out without completely removing the bolts.

Remove bottom starter motor mounting bolt.

Separate starter assembly from bellhousing, DC all cables/connectors, remove starter motor.

When installing starter, connect cable, install/torque starter bolts.

I cant get to the top bell housing bolts on my 96 chevy blazer

One way is to remove the back transmission /engine mount. Take the weight of the transmission on a car jack and lower it a few inches, Make sure that no pipes snag or the back the engine catches on the bulk head etc. A couple of wrench extension arms fitted end to end and a universal joint behind the socket should reach those difficult bolts from underneath the vehicle by accessing up between the chassis and the bell housing from the rear. Keep that transmission supported at all times as the full weight of the engine etc is pivoting around the front engine mounts! As an added bit of safety insert one of the lower bolts back into to bell housing and only very lightly tighten it. This should allow the top bolts to be taken out without risking sudden separation of the tranny from block at the bottom putting strain on the upper bolt shafts . When the top bolts are out support the rear of the engine on wooden blocks or some such and only then go to move the 'safety' bottom bolt prior to separation

How do i remove the alternator from a 97 saab 900

You do not have to remove the wheel unless you have th 6 cylinder engine (2.3l). Then yes you do:

Disconnect Negative Battery Cable
Remove the air cleaner and hose from between the air breather/cleaner and throttle housing
Relax the belt tensioner off the belt and pry off the belt
Remove the right front wheel, black belt cover/protector, and the wheel hub nut and slide the hub off the drive shaft/outer Cv joint
Disconnect the alternator, remove the alternator/air intake hose, 2 bolts that hold the alternator in and remove it through right-hand wheel housing.

Yes, this is immensely annoying. I hope you figured it out...

I cant find the thermostat on my 1994 buick skylark

It is definately there. It is in a housing right where the hose runs into the engine on the TOP radiator hose. Should be in a rounded top shape with 2 bolts to remove.
