It is throwing the p0171 and p0443 what could it be and is it easy to fix and fairly cheep

Depends.
Code 171 is fuel system too lean bank one. That means the computer can not make the O2 sensor switch from lean to rich and back. Could be the sensor, or a fuel problem.
Code 443 is a problem with the evap purge valve circuit. Could be the valve or a wiring problem. The purge valve vents fumes from the gas tank to the vapor canistor.

Other probable causes:
1. Damaged or corroded connector terminal
2. Wire harness. Check for voltage, open, short to ground, short to voltage
3. Control unit in need of updating. This is not the same as simply resetting.
4. Faulty PCM or ECM
5. Vacuum leaks. Damaged hoses or improper routing
6. EVAP system problem(s). Check fuel cap, canister, valves and components

P0508 and p0443codes wont idle

Code 508 is for a problem with the idle air control valve, and code 443 is a problem with the EVAP purge control circuit.
The components and wiring would need to be checked.

Whistle noise indicates a major vacuum leak. Maybe something loose in the intake system. Maybe a vacuum hose disconnected. Will explain lose of power also.

2001 Cadillac Deville: Check engine light came on. Went to my local mechanic who ran the code and came up with: Code PO 443 - Evap purge control circuit. What is this? The car runs fine, except it...

P0443 is a vent control circuit. Any one who can get a purge solenoid can do this. Before you replace it let me describe the criteria for this code to set Purge work with Vent and tank pressure/vacuum. The ECM test these circuit only during driving ,fuel range has to be 1/4 to 3/4 full above or below the system will not test. You have a fuel tank pressure/vacuum sensor on the fuel tank. Now for this code to set vacuum or pressure level was not achieved or it drop to fast thus the famous GAS cap problem. look at the gas cap is the seal good and did you tighten it till you heard the clicking noise,if the gas cap doesnt seal or its not tight thus the code, Oh by the way your nose is the best tester do you smell gas at the tank area how about from the cap? Open the hood find the purge solenoid it will be top of the engine near the EGR when you find it ,is the vacuum hose connected on it and it isnt broken, now is the solenoid connector hook up and not disconnected? To clear this code you can use a scan tool or you can allow the monitor to run when a vehicle has ran and sat 5 hours temperature for engine drops, its 160F when you start it it reaches operating temperature 210F , here it checks the enginemangement system it looks for open circuit, shorts, normality, and rationality,if it find it it sets a code.If it find nothing it will suspend check engine light code.how long till it clears without a problem 40 good ignition start up . Also you need to perform 3 trip monitor going from 160F to 210F . If no proplems ck eng lite goes out.
