SOURCE: car over heats with thermostat

OK first take out all the spark plugs, put a cooling system pressure tester on the radiator, make sure the cooling system is full of antifreeze (so you can see it) pump up the tester to 20-25psi and check forany leaks and repair them. pump it back up and watch the guage, pump it up and leave it on for an hour or so if it starts to drop off pump it back up, get a really bright flashlight and look into all the cylinders where you took the plugs out and I bet you will see antifreeze in one or more of the cylinders if one hour doesnt do it leave it on longer I feel you hve a bad headgasket , please let me know if you need any further help,
please leave me a favorable rating thank you, Randy

SOURCE: got an Eagle Talon es, 1994. runs and sounds good

if it is white smoke generally indicates water or coolant getting in the exhaust. if it is a blueish or balckish smoke then it is oil. you say white smoke getting water from bad head gasket or bad head. if it is the other two more than likely valve seals are going bad and will burn oil.

I have a 97 Ford Taurus I put Marvel oil in it you have been driving for 30 minutes now it runs real real bad lost power overheating and smoking

Overheating is either a sign of a thermostat/radiator fault, a coolant leak or a leaking cylinder head gasket.

Smoking is either due to overfilling with oil, worn valve seals or worn piston rings/worn engine.

If the trouble started when you topped up with oil, drain the oil system and try a different oil.

Put to much oil in oil tank. It started smoking and quit running. I drained the oil what else do I need to do to fix?

Drain out the excess oil and check the engine air cleaner and its housing, it will likely be full of engine oil

When Idling it makes a ticking noise and much faster when driving. Also smokes a little bit anysuggestions? 1.3l 4cyl 141000 mi.

Sounds like to me your litters are knocking, might need to be adjusted, valve adjustment, this is not a real easy fix or cheep fix. With the symptoms you just gave me along with the smoke I am sorry to say is not a easy fix, BUT to try and get by for a while try and drain the oil and put thicker grade oil in, like 20 -50 it will quite it up, and maybe by you some time, but in my humble opinion, you have oil possibly getting past your rings causing the smoke and valves/ litters need attention. PLEASE get this to a reputable shop for proper in person diagnose . Hope this helps, and I am sorry it is not a simple fix. Thanks mike:(

Car smoke real bad when you crank it up

Sounds like you could have a leaking fuel injector or a bad fuel pressure regulator causing a rich condition at start up or possibly bad valve guide seals causing oil to leak into the combustion chamber, is the smoke blue or black when you start the engine up???

Why does my honda accord smoke reel bad

This is either worn valve stem seals or worn out oil rings. Have someone follow you if the car smokes more as you release the throttle on deceleration it is most likely valve stem seal if it smokes more on acceleration it is worn oil piston rings. If the smoke is white you have a blown head gasket blue smoke means burning oil, black smoke means too rich (to much gas reaching motor)

Engine smokes on starting then quits smoking on acceleration.

4.3 liter and or any of the V-8's the valve seals , little rubber rings get old and brittle and no longer do the job.
what happens when you shut the engine off the oil from the rocker arms flow down the valve stem and collects then when you go and start the car you get a little shot of motor oil into the combustion chamber, hence a little blue smoke for 20 -30 seconds something most of us live with as its more of a pain to fix than it is to live with.

Got an Eagle Talon es, 1994. runs and sounds good but after a few minutes of running, it starts smoking real bad. what could be the problem? white smoke

white smoke is usually an indication of water in the engine you may have a bad head gasket or cracked block or water is building up in your muffler or tailpipe

time for a new car.  You single handedly ruined this motor.  Don't waste anymore money on this car,  buy another car and do the prescribed maintenance as required. Think of this as an expensive lesson.

My 89 honda civic has been running rough

No it has not been overheating or losing coolant at all it just has been running rough and poorly (loud) it was not smoking till he took out the old spark plug and put in the new one he said it was smoking out all that had been backed up into the cylinder due to non working spark plugs (there was oil on the spark plug)
