Question about 2003 Nissan Maxima
I have and 03 Maxima 146K. Check engine light came on P0430 and developed and knock at the same time. Knock seems to coming from under the intake. Knock is always there hot or cold. Changed the oil and used a quart of Lucust oil and knock is the same. Can these be related and what should I replace or do to clear the code? Vacuum Leak, 02 sensor, cats other? I'm worried about the knock! Thanks

Code p 0432 is main cat converter bank 2 --efficiency below threshold ===causes -- cat converter---wiring heated oxygen sensor (HO2S ) in the bank 2 manifold before the cat converter
ave a compression test done to determine inlet valve seat insert loose
if you have a problem with it there should be a bit of a miss, or it should change with rpm
could be a cam lobe failing and the noise should change with rpm

The best way is to use a scan tool to clear the codes, that will turn off the light, also disconnecting the battery over night may work, but no completely sure about that, it varies from year to year.

The knock sensor is a major pain in the a..s to change I would suggest taking it to a reputable shop for a second opinion to see if they realy performed the work. Also with OBD11 (2) diagnostics if you have multiple misfires its not the wires its something else, also if you got a code for a misfire it would be specific as to which cylinder is misfiring. My best guess would be to get your coil checked.

If the car is pinging you will set a knock sensor code.'
This comes from bad gas and running lean., You really need this professionally inspected to rule out the basics. I have seen alot of nissans with the knock sensor code stored but the light is still off.
Fill up the tank with high octane chevron and some techron injector cleaner and clear the light. If it stays off for a couple days then go get it inspected. Even if the code is stored it will still pass as long as the light is still off and the monitors have run.

on these types of lights what is needed to be done is after the repairs are made the vehicle needs to be taken to a Kragen or a Autozone so they can hook up the FREE DIAGNOSTIC CENTER AND CLEAR THE CODE
otherewise this will continue to appear till it is cleared from the cars computer memory ok
Hope this is very helpful
Best regards Mike
