Question about 2006 Mini Cooper

Open Question

P0715 DTC P0715, Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit A. Have cleared this code and will reset during the next ignition cycle, and will shift hard into reverse and drive (in default mode I am assuming). Reading data and graphing the data shows no glitches and maintains rpm value without showing signs of shorts or loss of signal. I would circuit test but since it read fine figured it would be a waste of time, codes sets after clearing and will not show any lose of signal from idle to 3500 rpm in park. No other codes except for P0700 in ecu which is telling me this code is set.

SOURCE: Service engine light

Your not going to here any knock from the engine the knock sensor detects detonation which is not detectable with the human ear. if you want to test the knock sensor you can tap the side of the block the engine should stumble for a couple of seconds if it does not change then the way the engine runs then the knock sensor is defective or hase buildup iside the engine and you will need to do a top engine clean. if you want instructions on how to do this just post another post to this reply This happens on engines that ave high mileage or acar that runs low grade like regular.

P0715 Turbine speed sensor circuit A. Sets after clearing, data shows no glitches in signal and reads steady rpm value at idle and when off idle. No other codes. Circuit test seems waste of time seeing...

You may have a slipping torque converter clutch or worn bands. Contact a local transmission repair shop for further diagnoisis. The turbine speed sensors measure in and out speed of the main shaft, if a excess differance is seen then it will turn on the light and set the appropriate fault codes.
