I have a 83 Bronco 351w I am doing the brakes and the passenger side rotor needs to be replaced can someone walk me through this thanks


Personally I would replace both rotors to prevent a future brake imbalance.

* chock rear wheels, raise front of vehicle and place on stands.

* remove wheels, remove brake calliper and bracket assemblies.

* remove bearing hubs from axles, via removal of bearing adjustment nut

*remove hub seals, clean and inspect bearings, repack with HT bearing grease.

* the brake rotor bolts to the rear of the hub, you will have to remove and replace rotor to hubs, make sure all bolts are thread locked with loctite 263 and tensioned to spec.

* pack hub with grease, install seals, fitt hub assembly and adjust wheel bearing preload, install new split pins.

* fitt brake calliper and brackets, fit new brake pads,

* fitt wheels lower vehicle, test brake for function

How do you replace rear brakes on a 1989 ford bronco II


The easiest and simpleist way is to jack the truck up, block it and remove both wheels and drums. Do one side at a time and use the other side as a reference. Both sides have to look exactly the same when you are done.

How do I remove the alternator from a 93 ford bronco?



IDENTIFICATION

There are 4 different types of alternators found on the years and model ranges covered in this information:

  1. Rear Terminal, External Regulator, External Fan Alternator
  2. Side Terminal, Internal Regulator, External Fan Alternator
  3. Leece-Neville 165 Ampere Alternator
  4. Integral Rear Mount Regulator, Internal Fan Alternator

Rear Terminal, External Regulator, External Fan Alternator
This unit utilizes a separate, external electronic regulator. The regulator is non-adjustable. The rear terminal alternator was standard equipment on 1987 trucks, and can be found on some 1992 motor home chassis models equipped with the 7.3L diesel or 7.5L gasoline engine.
Side Terminal, Internal Regulator, External Fan Alternator
This unit was optional on 1987, standard on all 1988-92 models and standard on 1993-96 models equipped with the 4.9L and 7.5L engines. The regulator in integrated within the alternator body and is not adjustable.
Integral Rear Mount Regulator, Internal Fan Alternator
This alternator is standard equipment on all 1993-96 models equipped with 5.0L, 5.8L gasoline engines and 7.3L diesel engines (except the 1996 F-Super Duty models).
Leece-Neville 165 Ampere Alternator
This unit is optional equipment on some 1989-94 trucks and ambulance packages. A separate, electronic, fully adjustable regulator is employed in this system.
Mitsubishi 215 Ampere Alternator
This unit is found on 1996 F-Super Duty models equipped with the 7.3L diesel engine. The regulator is integral and the fan is external.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Remove the adjusting arm bolt.
  3. Remove the alternator through-bolt. Remove the drive belt from the alternator pulley and lower the alternator.

Some engines are equipped with a ribbed, K-section belt and automatic tensioner. A suitable tool must be made to remove the tension from the tensioner arm. Loosen the idler pulley pivot and adjuster bolts before using the tool..
  1. Label all of the leads to the alternator so that you can install them correctly and disconnect the leads from the alternator.
  2. Remove the alternator from the vehicle.
  3. To install, reverse the above procedure. Observe the following torques:

    Pivot bolt: 58 ft. lbs. (78 Nm) Adjusting bolt: 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm) Wire terminal nuts: 60-90 inch lbs. (6.8-10.1 Nm)

When buying rotors for a 95 Bronco 4X4 should the rotors be seperate from the hub or should they be attached as one piece? Im getting mixed info from part stores.


The reason you're getting mixed info from parts stores is because it comes both ways.
Look at the following to determine which one you have, 4 wheel disc brakes (floating front rotors) or rear drum brake model (except 4 wheel disc brakes):
Brake Disc (Rotor) REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Except F-Super Duty with 4-Wheel Disc Brakes Fig. 1: Secure the caliper so there is no tension on the brake hose 88289p22.jpg
  1. Jack up the front of the truck and support it with jackstands. Remove the front wheel.
  2. Remove the caliper assembly and support it on the frame with a piece of wire (or something equally secure) without disconnecting the brake fluid hose.
  3. Remove the hub and rotor assembly.
  4. Install the rotor in the reverse order of removal, and adjust the wheel bearing as outlined in Section 1.
F-Super Duty with 4-Wheel Disc Brakes The hub and rotor are individual pieces, allowing the rotor to be replaced independently. The front and rear rotors are the same and are attached with 10 bolts and washers. The bolts are tightened a little at a time, in a crisscross fashion, to an ultimate torque of 74–89 ft. lbs. Does a torque converter for a 1989 ford bronco trwo have antyhing to do with a fly wheel


The torque converter bolts to the flex plate at the rear of the engine. It supplies the link between the engine to the transmission.

It's known as a "Flex Plate" and not a "Fly Wheel". The flywheel is use on a standard transmission.

1991 Bronco wont go into 4 wheel high or low


sticky or broken lockout ,take apart and clean,inspect the center aluminum piece,if the center moves around alot then the lockout is broken,if not then regrease and try it again

It is fairly easy to do. remove rear wheels and brake drums, remove the differential cover, rotate the diff to access the diff pin bolt and remove, remove pin, push axles inward and remove c clips, slide out axles and replace seals. reverse procedure
