SOURCE: WHAT DO P0701 TRANS CONTROL SYS RANGE/ PROFORMANCE .

Hi there:
DTC P0701 sets when the TCM detects the following conditions:
- Transmission fluid temperature is above -25 degrees C (-13 degrees F).
- All pressure switches do not indicate pressure at startup.
- Engine speed is above 500 RPM for 6 seconds or 400 RPM for 15 seconds.
- Forward or REVERSE range is selected.

Also, moisture contamination within the Park Neutral Position Switch may cause this condition. This is sometimes referred to as the Neutral Start Back-up Switch. On a left turn, water spray from the left front tire is directed directly at this switch. Proper installation of the "Front Shield" and "Rear Shield" are essential for proper repairs.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

SOURCE: p0701

The general definition is a problem with the trans control module.
The module could be faulty, or a problem with the wiring harness to the transmission.
You may want to check with the dealer or do some online research to see if there are specifics for the code on your model of car.

P0701 and p0704

Unfortunately the 0700 series of numbers relate to the transmission. Code ( P0701) is pushed by 1- Open or short transmission control system circuit. 2 - Poor transmission control system electrical connection. 3 - Check powers and grounds to Transmission Control Module (TCM). Code P0704 is pushed by 1- Faulty Clutch Switch.
2 - Misadjusted Clutch Switch. 3 - Clutch Switch harness is open or shorted. 3 - Clutch Switch circuit poor electrical connection. 4 - Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM). But I'm guessing you have an automatic trans. right. If so I would look at the (DTR) digital transmission range sensor.

Now i dont know a lot about automatics especially modern ones with all this fancy electronics thats used nowdays but i think its a fault with the temperature sensor for the gearbox. But where its located and what it looks like i have no idea it could even be mounted inside the gearbox .Sorry not a very good answer from a mechanic but?? very few of our europeon cars come with auto transmission .Evan when i do know whats wrong i cannot buy the parts for the gearbox as only re-con boxes supplied by the dealer so best advice is to try a specialist in auto box repairs only .PS some of my best students when i used to teach mechanics many moons ago were the girls so no excuses like iam only a girl please
