check your catylitic converter and your muffler as both of these will cause your vehicle to overheat if either of them is plugged.

Ticking sound in top end of 04 intrepid 2.7. I have replaced the water pump as it was overheating...that problem is gone. Replaced the timing chain and tensioner and all new gaskets... its ticking once...

check that you have put the right amount of oil in the sump as the oil light is probably coming as the oil surges away from the pump. disregard the dip stick for a minute . There is normally around 4 litres of oil in a sump ( 1 us gallon)

How many Quart of oil includ filter oil change

five litres , -- pour 4 litres of oil, let them go till sump, then take the oil dip stick after 5 minutes to check the level then pour the remaining oil. the oil dipstick contains two level indicator, low level and maximum level - low level contains minimum 3 litres but between the low level and the maximum level it is only 3 litres maximum. Hope this may be enough suggestion - Raj / India / scanacar@gmail.com

Have a chrysler 300 awd 3.5l losing a quart of oil every 1300 miles. Is this going to cause more prob.

Oil alone is not enough anymore, I use Pennzoil platinum synthetic and add 1/3 of a quart/ litre of lucas oil stabilizer; to bring up to the full mark. (Add the lucas first.;)(I also use the lucas fuel conditioner every 4th fuel-up.). With all this being said, I hope you have checked the obvious, the pvc valve, take it out and shake it, it should rattle or it's bad, and needs to be changed; If that is not it, Make sure you ck the water/antifreeze to see if it is contaminated with oil. If that doesn't find it, there are special additives to add color to help track leaks, Could you have possible had a loose oil plug or filter not quite tight enough? (**** happens) so again don't be surprised...!!! Could you have gotten taken for a ride at some oil change had someone pull a fast one on you? Due you change your oil and service your car yourself? Also, i did notice on one oil change, an inconsistent situation, i always change my own oil, and one time it just didn't look right, at 5000 k's / 3000 miles the oil was blacker than usual, and when I changed the filter, there was more sludge than usual, which really alarmed me. (I chocked it up to maybe possibly time of year winter snows, cold weather, longer warm-ups / -30 temps BBBBBRRRRR, but I think the same can happen with HOT weather causing the viscosity of the oil to be lost, rember when oil loses it's viscosity ,,, it needs to be changed and this is when it's down 1 litre/quart, (If you can catch it just when this happens, throw a little lucas stabilizer in, 1/3 of a litre, i feel an engine is not really broken in until it has 60,000 miles; (of course it all depends on how you drive it) are you the only driver of the vehicle? back in my younger days, dad's old car could really smoke them tires Ugh Huh,,,,,ha ha ha ha ha ha

There was 2 bottles of water put in the gas tank

Try draining tank first if there is a drain plug. If no drain plug you will have to drop tank to empty it. Once tank is empty put in 2 gallons / 10 Litres of fuel and add a quart or 1 Litre of denatured alcohol or methyated spirits. The alcohol will mix with any water and consequently disperse through the fuel which will then be burnt normaly in the engine. When most of this mix is used up fill tank and add anothet pint of denatured alcohol to mix with any remaining water.

How much more oil do I add when changing the filter as well?

Basically depending if the car is completly drained of oil then you would need the almost extra 1ltr of oil, the engine would retain a certain amount of oil in the internal parts, i'e hydrolic tappets etc, thus they say up to 1 ltr,
basically fill 3.8ltrs run the engine for a min, then check dipstick and top up as ness.

Oil change

Add three quarts and then check the oil dip stick..if it is still low then slowly add a fourth quart and check it again...most cars don't use more then four quarts of oil (some use five quarts)

I had my 2003 BMW M3 in for it's annual oil change and they didn't reset my oil change maintanence light. It is still showing 3700 miles before next oil change and I just got it done.

1. Key in 0 or off position.

2. Press and hold odometer button and turn key to 1 or acc. position... like you're turning the car on, but don't crank the engine.

3. Keep button pressed until any of the following words appear in display: "oil service" or "inspection", with "reset" or "re". For vehicles with "high cluster", the fuel amount (in litres) remaining until next service is displayed (i.e. 3224).

4. Press and hold button again until "reset" or "re" flash.

5. While display is flashing, press button briefly to reset service interval indicator. After display has shown new interval, the following will appear in display for approx. 2 seconds:"END SIA"

Oil and oil filter

Um, need a 17 mm wrench or socket to remove the drain plug under the motor and the oil filter is behind the motor almost center, but get to it from the front or maybe driver side of the car. When u remove the oil filter, make sure the old o ring was remaoved as well, can easily tell if it is by looking at the old filter, it should still be on it.

Put some old oil on the new filter o ring to make sure it doesn't kink when u install it. To tighten the filter, screw it by hand until it' s snug, then give about half a turn more.

Engine should need about 3.7 litres or less to be full. So put 3 litres in it, start car for about 10 seconds and turn it off. Verify oil level and top up as necessary.

Good luck

Car is heating up? I checked the plastic spherical object and liquid is at max!. The oil is a little low could this be the cause of the temperature gauge rising above 90?

Yes it can be. Might be something else, but could be the oil. Change the oil with Castrol 10w40 and add Lucas additive and see if there are any changes. Also check the thermostat. Make sure your fan is turning.
