Can you read any voltage at the gauge? If so, you have a faulty gauge.

SOURCE: 5.7L engine has fuel pick up issue running out of

Most likely it's not a pick up issue since the fuel sending unit is right to the bottom of the tank. It's going to be and electrical or the float in the sending unit is bent and is giving a fault's reading of 1/4 of tank when the tank is actually empty. It's common for the float to the sending unit to get knocked out of alignment if the unit is knocked around to much when installed in the gas tank and or wire harness has not been replace from the sending unit to the frame of the car which is only around $15.00. Fill the gas tank a few time to the top may realign the float and give you a more accurate reading. Good luck and hope this helps.

SOURCE: gas gauge not working properly on a 04 dodge

The fuel level sending unit is causing the problem. The fuel pump and the sending unit is one piece. So the entire unit will need to be replaced on car to correct the problem. Hope this will help you.

SOURCE: fuel sending unit gas gauge dont work could that

It can be the problem. Of course the resistor in the interiors gage can be at fault as well. A OHM METER is used to test these parts.

97 mercury mountaineer. won't start

hi,

watch your oil pressure when cranking, you have to have some oil pressure to get the fuel system to start. you may have to find the hot wire at the relay and energize it to see if it is indeed the fuel pump going out. if its been sitting and its a 97 the fuel pump just might have went, you can also try hitting the gas tank from the outside in the middle to see if that works too. have a water hose or fire extinguisher around when your working on fuel system and leave one of your battery cable a little loose..

Where is the gas tank ground wire for 1995 ford explorer

Not exactly sure when you say "in gas tank". There are 2 seperate grounds for the fuel pump/sending unit inside the fuel tank. The ground for the fuel pump is located under the left hand (drivers) side of the instrument panel behind the kick panel. The ground for the sending unit is located on the left hand (drivers) side of the engine compartment near the radiator. Sorry I don't have any pictures and I hope this helps....

Mechanic replaced fuel pump, gas gauge didn't work after, took back, now only goes half way up. What is causing this and what is the remedy?

could possibly be the fuel sensor sending unit. might have been damaged during the fuel pump replacement.

My 91 blazer (Jimmy) just quit running. Looks like getting gas. Just turns over and over. Won't start. Just instantly WTF?!

What do you mean it looks like its getting gas ? Try removeing the fuel filter its an in line filter located on the frame rail under the drivers door . Then put a plastic soda bottle on the line that is comeing from the gas tank and turn the key to run for 5 seconds . If you don't get at least 3 to 4 ounces of fuel then your fuel pump is bad . Or its the relay in the glove box or its the oil pressure sending uint . Have you been haveing problems with the oil pressure gauge or dose it start hard a long cranking time . Long cranking is the relay oil pressure problems is the sending unit but it is a back up power supply for the fuel pump . If the filter is clogged the pump is probably shot you could try replaceing the filter but that pump olny last 10 years at best it just depends if its been replaced at one time witch may be likely seenig its 20 years old the new ones were better a lot of upgrades on them check it out i can't do it for you olny you can do it good luck

Ran out of gas-truck won't start-replaced fuel

you probably have air in the lines, if you have a carb, spray some quick start into the carb and turn it over, if it starts and then dies when the starting fluid has run out, you probably need a fuel pump, since the running of the car should have blown out any air that was in the line, If your car is fuel injected, loosen the bolt cap at the end of the injector line that supplies the fuel,, and tap the key once,, ( don't start it,, ) just turn the key on and off 3 or 4 times, this should blow fuel out of that loose bolt head, if it does your getting fuel, if not, back to the fuel pump, also you can check this link, http://www.aa1car.com/library/us1296.htm

2004 z71 tahoe when the gas gauge is at a quarter of a tank it won't crank. It acts like it is empty with gas.

Check your fuel filter if it needs replacement. Empty it out then connect it back. Try to start it again. Inspect the fuel filter if it filled with gasoline. Check if there is noise at the fuel tank to check if the pump is working. If it did not, inspect the fuse for your fuel pump and the relay. If both are good you may connect the fuel pump directly to the battery to see if it works. It may be a bad wiring.

2001 rodeo sport 4X4. Gas gauge does not work. What is the cost to repair and what parts are needed. My garage wants $700.00.

The fuel sending unit probably needs replaced and can be done by a do-it-yourselfer without much difficulty. It bolts to the front of the gas tank is only has a few screws holding it in place.

I don't know the cost of one, but you can check EBAY. There are always good deals for new or used parts there. And it won't be $700.
