No, it has to be that the gear is shaved and needs replaced.

No reverse in my 2004 Chrysler Sebring

Check the operating cable/linkage. If its OK then its possible the reverse clutch in the trans isn't functioning. A trans shop may be able to check the pressures that operate the clutches. Its 10 years old, you don't say how many miles?

Does a 1993 nissan primera have a hydraulic clutch or cable clutch also either ither how do I adjust it as its crunching in 1st & reverse also starting to crunch in 4th

Well I don't what type of clutch you have but I can tell you how to find out. Open your hood look on firewall drvrside, if you have two fluid containers you have hydrolic clutch. If you have one then you have cable/linkage type.

Tranny, linkage or ???

clutch, and check clutch cable linkage. Make sure there ain't no or very little slack in the clutch cable. It dies because the clutch is still engaged with the flywheel. Car won't move in any gear because the clutch prolly needs to be changed.

Polo gti wont go into reverse/ if you turn the car off it goes in to rev. but if running it grates and wont go into rev

Needs a new clutch from the sound of it iam afraid ,other possibilities are a worn shaft inside the box or a cable linkage but i suspect a worn clutch thtas coming to the end of its life ,the clutch is dragging where the pressure plate has a weak spring .

Are you putting it in the right gear? The vehicle sounds like its getting into the wrong gear.Does the shifter feel like there is alot of play? you may have a gear linkage problem, and do you have trouble getting in reverse if so you have a linkage problem

Stuggle to get get gears(1-4and reverse) in a 1995 vw chico. Is the clutch gone?

The clutch may be fine but need adjusting or bleeding (if it's a hydraulic clutch). This can also be caused by a failing throwout bearing, pressure plate, clutch fork, low fluid in a hydraulic clutch or a mechanical linkage that's out of adjustment.

Check for low fluid first because it's an easy solution. If the clutch uses a cable or linkage check the adjustment, it may need tightening.

It's important to address this soon because when you have to force a transmission into gear you're wearing out the synchronizers and you'll miss them when they're gone.

is the clutch cable operated or hydraulic if cable operated ,the cable is too tight and needs to be let off a couple of turns, if hydraulic make sure there are no leaks present ,also check the gear linkages that nothing got snagged when refitting the gearbox

Check the linkage first. I have had the linkage come loose before. If it isn't the linkage you need a good transmisson man.

Check the cable clips at the trans. Sometimes these clips come out and won't shift. Horseshoe clips that hold the cable housing.
